The SHIELD is a side hustle for the techs working for NVIDIA (which is why it's better supported LOL)... They only put out a new model whenever NINTENDO orders new chips for the next console or refresh... In many ways, the hardware between the SWITCH and the SHIELD are identical, so much so that in China, there are unofficial boot loaders that can dual boot a 2017 SHIELD into SWITCH mode.

8 inch OLED screen apparently. Hope it looks good on the big screen when docked.

My son absolutely loves the OLED screen on the STEAMDECK I got him 2 Christmases ago.. He really wants to upgrade his gaming PC monitor to an OLED as well, but is waiting for some upgrade in the tech before he pulls the trigger (he's explained many times what that is, but I can't recall at the moment). As it is, he plays on a very large, very beautiful, 32:9 screen, which to my eye is absolutely gorgeous... Anyways, I'm not sure if what he is looking for showed up at CES this year..

That 32:9 screen sounds just the ticket, good on him.

I hope to learn how to refurbish Nintendo 3ds's soon as I just bought 2 broken 3ds's. Watching a few videos they seem challenging but not too challenging to work on and parts are available.

Been keeping it on the down low, we're in Southern California and there are several wildfires out here. We were under "pending evacuation" since the start but that warning has gone away and we are no longer under threat at this time. The air quality is awful but we've had Internet, phone service, power, gas, and water. Other folks, not so much. Lots of people have lost everything and are in shelters, etc.

Been telecommuting for work and just trying to stay positive. Watching movies and series on the tele. I recommend American Primeval on Netflix. And we thought that Taylor Sheridan had the market cornered in terms of western grit? Well, Mark L. Smith and Peter Berg said, "hold my beer." It was epic. Smith wrote The Revenant from a few years ago, as well.

Thought for sure Nvidia may introduce a update to the 2019 Shield Pro streaming box but apparently they did not. With Apple TV4K 3rd Gen with A15 Bionic chip now selling at $129 for the 64GB version and $149 for the 128GB version. With the newer Apple’s at these price points it appears Nvidia has elected to just stay with this model. Some believe Apple will introduce an even cheaper model in 2025.

To date I don’t believe the Shield Pro can auto match the content frame rate. I have used the Refresh Rate app on mine from the start. Used to work quite well but not anymore. No matter, use the Apple TV4K most of the time now for streaming and certain file play using Infuse.

Yeah, boring. I never watch these shows. Only skimmed through Nvidia's hoping to hear/see something about Shield. What I got was endless talk of AI and overpriced graphics cards. Not as confident as Crutzulee.

The Bikeriders got knocked out of the top 5.. which is fine because it was really on my list for mostly personal reasons rather than artistic merit..
My first movie "purchase" of the year was the 4K digital copy of Conclave. It was/ is just $9.99 at FAH (Vudu).

A friend of mine really liked the series The Borgias and Conclave is something that he had expressed strong interest in seeing.

The 4K disc is released on my birthday, so I may buy it for real then- if I keep hearing good things about the movie. At present, nothing else on your top 5 list catches my interest.

Never did watch The Borgias but heard good things about it. I have Conclave on order from the library but we'll when that arrives since it's closed for a bit.

There was another series that was on HBO, I think, that starred Jude Law called The Young Pope. I think they did a followup to it called The New Pope.

The Young Pope always had a cool opening intro:

Thanks for the recommendation of and its successor.

There is also an import edition that includes both:

I would like to replace Kneecap with The Royal Hotel. Enjoyed kneecap but my first home viewing highlighted the lack of depth to the characters, something that Trainspotting managed superbly. So very good, but not excellent like I thought at first, cinema can be overwhelming (in a good way) while my HT is less so and I have more time to reflect. Still great AV though, so no complaints there. Still glad I own it but The Hotel Royal sneaks it.

I don’t normally feel the need to amend with second watches but this is a rare exception. It now places 11th.
