Continue burying your head in the sand.

Oh and those are not free anyway. It's a subscription. Many people still only pay for a Amazon instant subscription without all the prime stuff.

Yes, it's true that does titles are still available to rent or purchase, but I assume the filmmakers were hoping for a wider audience with their film being part of the Prime service - as people are more likely to chance a film that's included with their subscription than to risk wasting money on an obscure title.

I think what interests me is that Amazon offered them the chance to cut their movie of the objectionable content and then they would be accepted again. In the future, filmmakers will now apply this level of censorship themselves at the production stage so that they don't anger Amazon, so maybe we will see less and less explicitly violent or sexual titles in the future coming from indie filmmakers as a result. We already see this from big studios already, making PG-13 movies to appeal to a wider audience. It now seems like indie filmmakers will begrudgingly have to do this also.

Political Correctness has already claimed my "Dukes of Hazzard" Their "offensive" car is too much for some snowflakes to handle now.

Good thing I own the disks.

Yep, exactly what I was saying several weeks ago. Creativity kept in check from the production stages. That would be a utter disaster. Indies are crucial for the film industry. You can't tell certain stories without violence. At least not with the same impact. Imagine something like Saving Private Ryan.

As for the PG 13 thing, I think in the future all films will aim for a U rating. I think that will be every inch as bad as it sounds.

It won't swing back because studios/directors hands will be tied. They will shoot new content within the 'mustn't offend' bracket. They really are killing the film industry slowly aren't they?

You are both overreacting.

Besides, one of Amazon's own originals is The Neon Demon and I'm sure they will not edit it and also leave it up for prime members.

Plus Netflix has plenty of indies. Go gather up your family and play the opening scene of Gaspar Noe's "Love"

So, it's ok to dismiss certain indie titles is it? That's healthy for the industry? Censoring independent filmmakers? Amazon will get more control going forward. At the moment they don't want to upset major filmmakers. That will change when they are controlling more of the market.

By the way, isn't it a little inconsistent to not post a picture of a tin foil hat for moviegeek? The guy has aired very similar views to mine? Or is that stuff just saved for me?

As you known what one service does, others tend to follow. It only takes one such decision from Netflix to put a stake through the heart of independent films (horror especially).

I can just see how it's going. Watered down content and censorship should be the enemy of every single film fan on this site. People are so passive these days.

You're just worrying about what you think will happen. You've been doing it for a very long time. Does worrying count as action? Or are you just worrying and being passive at the same time?

No, I have sent several lengthy emails to various companies and signed the petitions for the likes of the 3D tv manufactures thread amongst many others.

Again Netflix has shown a propensity for violent films. Just look at one of their originals I Don't Feel At Home in this World Anymore or their relationship with Jeremy Saulnier movies or their love of extreme foreign films.

I don't see those going away.

And yes them removing those B horror titles could set a bad precedent, but I had no interest in those films to begin with. But I can still purchase or rent them to view them as the director intended.

Look I get it, movies are never going to be censored on a huge scale especially not those produced by the company themselves, that's why The Neon Demon is left alone but the indies are targeted, essentially it's bullying.

I'm far from paranoid and believe that if movies do get censored in the future, meh, there's still 100 years worth of stuff to watch. But it's also unfair that certain filmmakers cannot express their voice as they were once able to do. The video nasties controversy from the 80s is still referenced to this day, only this time I think people don't care about shlock films like they once used to so indies are an easy target with little backup.

I like Netflix, they're for the filmmakers, unlike Amazon which has a different company image, maybe indie filmmakers should boycott Amazon and head over to Shudder or Netflix etc where their films will be more appreciated.

And to add further fuel to the flame - http://www.cinemablend.com/news/1672...being-censored

Don't let people back you into a corner. If you think it, say it.

As for 100 years of content to fall back on? What's to stop them censoring that?
If it's digital delivery via subscription or purchase of individual titles, absolutely nothing!

What's to stop a director from replacing guns with walkie talkies on an anniversary disc?

Nothing but digital delivery is going to make all of this so so easy.

At least once stuff is put out on disc, you have it and they can't take it away.

That's good. I just don't understand why you prefer to overreact most of the time. I get that you fear that the future of cinema is on the line, but nothing you've predicted has come true yet. There isn't much to truly indicate that things are headed down the dark path you portray. But if you believe things are going that direction, I'm happy you're trying to stop it in small ways.

Btw, I may be a big believer in digital, but I still buy physical sometimes. I bought Logan last month, Fate of the Furious today and I've preordered Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 & Spider-Man: Homecoming. All of them on UHD disc.

Of course, if they didn't include digital copies, I wouldn't touch them, but that's beside the point. I'm still supporting physical here and there, even though I almost always choose to watch the included digital copy. Tonight I watched Fate of the Furious (Extended) in 4K on VUDU. No complaints here. And if and when I get a 4K Blu-ray player, I'll check out those 4K discs to see what I've been missing.
