They won’t mate, they know they wouldn’t get the numbers.

I have to be honest, I love all the Louis Theroux specials and the nature docs. But I buy most of them in 4K anyway!

Good for you guys, but if the Discs aren't selling that well will they still keep making them? I'm sure you guys will keep buying them but will that be enough for the Discs to make a good Profit?

Hate to admit it, but one of the downfalls of updating your gear is widening of the gap between reference and mediocre media...

In my bid to push the limits of my new gear, I had to reach all the way back for this

HOLY MOLY!! What a ride

I bought Lucy UHD used for $5.99 and left the sticker on the case because I still can't believe it. Have watched it many times. I love it. (Came with a working digital copy code for 4K as well.)

Always a reference disc. The other one I go to it seems is Passengers.

[Show spoiler]I have to be at the hospital at the painfully early time of 6:30 AM Tuesday. Tomorrow is the day that I have my Ultranav/ MRI guided transperineal biopsy and a cystoscopy both performed while under general anesthesia. The biopsy is to determine the grade and aggressiveness of the highly suspected cancer as seen on my previous MRI. My urologic surgeon puts the odds of my having a high grade aggressive prostate cancer at 85%.

The Cystoscopy is to examine and biopsy the bladder and the urethra. It is expected that the cancer has spread beyond the prostate, so these are going to be checked among other areas.

The recovery afterwards takes longer than the procedures, so I have been told to expect to be at the hospital all day. I may be admitted if there are complications.

If discharged, I will have to stay with someone for 24 hours. I can expect lifting restrictions to not exceed 10 pounds for 5-7 days. I will have to drink lots of fluids to avoid blood clotting in the urethra; if that happens I will earn myself a catheter. Sitting down will be painful for a few days, too.

In other developments, I now suffer from constant nausea all day, all night, every single day. Eating is a chore that only makes the nausea worse. Keeping the food down is another problem. I have been enduring this for 3 weeks now.

I have been prescribed a medication to fight it, but I can not start taking it until after tomorrow's procedures. This medication has heart arrhythmias as a rare, but possible side effect. All of my medications, even my prescribed vitamins, have been paused.

I have 7 pages of pre-op instructions to follow. The worst part is that I have to give myself an enema two hours before going to bed tonight. I am not even allowed to wear deodorant tomorrow.

I have a long, difficult, and smelly day ahead of me tomorrow. It will probably take a couple of weeks to get the results from the pathologist, so add waiting and wondering to the mix.

Thank you for reading and I hope that I did not make anyone . I will post again when I can.
Thinking of you today Buddy. Wishing you all the best and a quick bounce back.

I will pass the message on to the relevant department. I’m sure they haven’t thought of that.

Who says they aren't selling well? I can't see them getting out of the game for awhile yet. If anything, they would probably raise prices by a couple dollars per disc and as long as they keep selling, they'll keep making them.

Will give Lucy another watch soon.

Still getting use to screen going totally black on fade to blacks. Have Dynamic CTRL set to Balanced. Have not tried Off or Low, High was very obvious. Have not spotted any changes using Balanced.

Passengers is video eye candy. Waiting till I get my new screen installed then I will check out the montages on the Spears & Munsil disc.

It's always hard to compare settings with JVCs as they seem to love to mess with their nomenclature between series and even firmware updates, but i suspect your BALANCED" setting corresponds to MODE 3 on my NZ7 and it is indeed a thing of absolute beauty...

Going back to my early days of actually swapping out discs, I tend to use scenes from the beginning of films to test various audio/video settings...Full fade to black is one of those ear to ear grin inducing things when it spontaneously happens during a movie, but my test did this is actually included in my JUDDER torture test with the opening 10 minutes of THE REVNANT... it's actually a fade in from black that opens the movie... before the JUDDER torture test begins LOL...
Does that mean you've abandoned FILMAKER mode? I'm not sure if it's the case on your next series units, but on the NZ7, I believe that Laser dimming is not compatible... I already have it off for other JUDDER related reasons. As much as I HATE what most frame interpolation gimmicks do to a picture (making them look like soap operas..or worse, video games) I have had some experience using a motion enhance feature on LOW setting..I can't remember the name of the setting right now when I'm not in the HT but I've actually been very happy with its subtly positive effects on motion with out any perceptible negative anomalies...

Black is to video what Silence is to Audio. When it's effective it's essential.

JVC certainly has changed things a bit with the latest models but mode 3 in the previous models only affects full black screens so credits don't result in a black level pump or pulsing.

My CRT FP's could do absolute black and now my projector can and it's stunning.

I am finally home. The procedures went well, but I won't know the results for about a week.

I am on pain pills, so I am demoted from half-wit status to full-on dim wit.

Good to see made it back home.

More than 1 or 2 doses of oxycodone or hydrocodone guarantees me a skin rash that stings and itches which will last one to two weeks. And thats with taking 2 Benadryl every 4 hours.
