I do apologise, yes I used isopropyl - I used to keep some for whenever I had to clean stubborn marks on film negatives before printing them, and other various darkroom uses. Sorry for not mentioning it before.

Thankfully I have replaced them with blu-rays anyway, but it was quite unusual.

I haven't watched it yet, but I wish they could have brought back Jeffrey Jones. I mean, I totally get why they didn't though. At least I understand they explain his absence in the movie.

This may upset the purists, but I wish releases of Jackie Brown included the 4:3 version as an extra.

I saw Pulp Fiction in the theater with my best friend, who is still my best friend after all these years. One of my fondest memories. That movie had such an influence on us. We were both working at the same job at the time and for weeks afterwards went around quoting dialogue from the movie and applying it to our work situations.

It was funny how they worked around it though!

OT CPU post:

[Show spoiler]
A just in case post for those that do PC builds, click here to compare various CPU’s. You may find very little difference between some models as in this i7 vs i9 gen. 14 chips. A i5 gen. 14 may perform much better than a i7 gen 12.

My computer problem is that I got the Dell UltraSharp 40 a week ago, which now takes up the HDMI 2.1 GPU output that I was using for the TV, and I don't like modern games nearly enough to pay for a significantly better graphics card than my two year old RX 6800 at the prices asked. I would still have 5120x2160 at 120 Hz with DisplayPort, but with DSC (compressed colors) and no variable refresh rate. Why have they still not replaced DisplayPort 1.4? It's ancient. I should have thought ahead, purchased a graphics card with two HDMI 2.1 outputs, but don't keep up on tech, since I'm mostly a retro player and consumer of old media.

I was in a very similar situation myself not long ago. Ended up purchasing a HDMI splitter, so I dont have to rely on DP 1.4, and can change output from PC monitor to TV as easily as possible. Such splitters are fairly inexpensive, but the specifications vary, so make sure you get one that supports HDMI 2.1, VRR etc. From what I could read from other customers experience, the USB powered splitters are the most reliable.

What GPU do you have? It doesn't funk out with the HDMI signals changing?

RTX 3070 Ti, and I always switch the output before turning on the PC or display device, and so far I've had no issues.

BJ's Wholesale Club Virtual books no longer DL-able

If you own other people's stuff don't be surprised when they change their mind about how you can access it.

https://www.theverge.com/news/612898...d-transfer-usb

Amazon is removing the ability to download and backup purchased books.

It’s not like there hasn’t been plenty of warnings, if people are dumb enough to abandon disc for digital, it’s their own fault.

I kind of regret how discs are starting to come without digital copies though.

My kids are away at college and can use the online versions.

I recently bought the online copy off We Live in Time because the BD was full price and it might go to UHD BD at some point and my kids were much more interested in the movie that I was.

I switched to AMD for this build just because they have promised to support the AM5 platform through at least 2027. That gives me plenty of CPU upgrade options so I don't have to buy a whole new platform again. I can just upgrade my CPU as necessary.

Unlike Intel whose latest platform is rumored to only last for the current generation. Which means the next chips they release will need a new motherboard. No wonder Intel's reputation is in the gutter.

This was about books, but the issue is that it is part of human nature to downplay risk. "it has not happened to me", "it's not going to happen to me", "_____ is too big so I am safe"

Reminds me of when the common response was Vudu is Walmart and Walmart isn't going anywhere.

Up until Walmart cashed out of Vudu.
