yup the RC-70's are nominaly 8ohms (which is basically an average). They will take dips down to 4ohms though.

Default USP-1 2-CH preamp

I thought I'd introduce Emo's upcoming 2-CH preamp due for release sometime this month. Includes HT input & bypass so that it can integrate with an existing AVR/pre-pro. I'll be picking up one for sure.

What would be the need for this if I have a ERC-1 with DAC?

no need since it looks to be based off the same DAC and oppamp buffers as the ERC-1

But for those like me that utilize all digital music files, or have a lesser quality CDP with not a great internal DAC, this would be an EXCELLENT option.

*sigh* My XPA-5 arrived this morning. This is the one time when I hate telecommuting as I've had the box sitting in my office staring at me for the last 6 hours. Day is almost over... day is almost over... day is almost over...

Actually, it's an LPA-1 (predecessor to the UPA-7). Plan is to sell it.

Sweet! I bet you guys had a ball. Thanks for posting the pics, and you're gonna have to let me know how it went!

It's a work thing, and I had a lot to do today. I had plenty of time to hook it up during lunch, but it's powering it up after that I fear... I'd have no self-control once it's all setup so better for me just to ignore it.

Fare enough !

Question , Remember I am still new to some of this stuff But , If I were to get the ERC-1 cd player would it be A good thing to get the USP-1 stereo preamplifier . This is where I get lost , the USP-1 helps the sound of the CD player , But will it / could it help the HT too !

crazy, yes the ERC-1 with a USP-1 would yield an optimal 2-ch analog setup. While the USP-1 is designed to integrate in an HT environment, it's really geared toward 2-channel listening since it's only a 2-ch preamp and has no digital/hdmi inputs. What this means is instead of connecting the Front preamp outs on your SC-07 directly to your amps, you instead connect them to the USP-1 via RCA, then the USP-1 to your amp via RCA. Your ERC-1 (and other 2 channel analog devices) would connect to the USP-1 instead of your SC-07, while your HT devices remain connected to your SC-07. During normal 2 channel use with say the ERC-1, the USP-1 acts as a normal 2-channel preamp. When you want to listen to HT, there's an "HT bypass" switch on the USP-1 that will simply pass the audio signal from your SC-07 to the amp for your Fronts.

Ok... work day is over... gonna tear open that XPA-5 box now!

Its actually the UPA-2 not the XPA-2.

But its an excellent excellent deal for a 2-channel setup.
