I didn't say anything - these are collectors items and if they thinks I'm being a little b1tch about a dent then that's her problem. So I hand her the new one and figured she was just going to ring it through. But no she was about to open it, I quickly noticed and told her not to. She gives me this dirty look asking why and I said cause I want it sealed. Then she looks at her co-worker, rolls her eyes and hands it to me. I'm not gonna lie it was kind of embarassing but screw them. Girl was a total b1tch. She was giving me the nastiest attitude. And im sure once I left the store her and her co-workers were like "OMG what a anal nerd, omg one little dent in his movie, end of the world".
That sucks.

Part of their job description is to treat customers with respect and handle any issue(s) related to the customers purchase; not make customers feel that their issues are trivial and/or by making the situation awkward/uncomfortable for the customer.

I figured they would try to open it, and if the one you took back would have been opened, they probably would have had to.

Sorry you had to have your worst fears realized. I guess it would have been easier to pick up another mint copy and just return the dented one on another day, or a few minutes later. I've had someone look at me funny once, but I just told them I hate dings on my car as well as my steelbooks. They understood after that (or they didn't look at me in some wierd way after I said that).

Ya well respect is the last thing on that girls mind, man she had a nasty attitude. The look on her face when I showed her the dent was But then again, she probably has no idea that steelbooks are collectors items and probably watches her movies still off VHS.

Well to most people, a small ding in a steelbook isn't a big deal. Most people don't care if it's an amaray case, or a steelbook case at, and see no extra value in the different case.

Not saying she's right, far from it, but I'm just offering a perspective from another point of view. I'd be pissed about that situation too.

Even if the one I returned was opened, they have no right to open the new one in the store. If theyre worried that I will go to another store and get my money back, they write "exchanged" on the receipt anyways so that would void that. It actually took quite a bit of my effort to get her not to open it. She kept asking why I wouldnt let her and she just didnt get it. Im surprised she didnt throw the new copy at me she was so rude to me.

Steelbook or not, it is damaged goods that you paid full price to get, they have to replace it.

First let me say there is no excuse for her attitude. However, it is their policy to open the replacement product, for a valid reason. This precludes someone from watching the movie, denting the case, returning the product as damaged, and then reselling the sealed replacement as new. The policy seems ridiculous to honest people, but they have seen this type of behaviour in the past, and she indefensibly painted you with that brush.

I know that

I'm just saying for a tiny dent, a "normal" person would roll their eyes at asking for an exchange over it

Screw them mate. We pay premium price for a steelbook. So they can take a hike.

It will become a premium price a month down the road when a normal one would be only 20 or less.

Well I agree with you for the most part, but mine was still sealed. Absolutely no reason for her to keep trying to open it in the store. Now if its opened that's another story, but I think they're more worried about the customer then taking the sealed copy for a refund to another store.

Geez they make it so complicated at future, but then again the ones here aren't exactly the brightest tools in the shed to begin with.

Exactly! We pay a premium for steelbooks, we have every right to be picky about its condition! They can think what they want - that we're a bunch of cry babies, low lifes whatever...I don't care.

Yep, if it was still sealed, they should have left it sealed. I've returned stuff sealed and opened plenty of times to Best Buy, but if it's sealed, it is usually just a flat out refund. If they ask if I'm going to want to swap it out for something else, I just say no so I can get my money back. I'll then go buy the exact same thing, make sure it's a mintier copy, and head to the registers. I guess I could have told you to try that route also. The few times I returned something sealed only to swap it out for a mintier one was when I've ordered it on-line, and it came in damaged. I guess I've been lucky 'cos I didn't get any grief about it the few times I've done it. I've also returned something opened, but it doesn't bother me if they open it 'cos I know about their policy, and I open mine anyways. I will tell them to be careful with it 'cos I collect them and like them as dent free as possible.

Either way, there's no reason for her to trip on you like that. It is obviously a Collector's Item since it is an Exclusive Release, and the amaray case is also available in the same store.

However same goes for every movie. I can pay "premium price" and have it launch, or way three months and it's cheaper.
