That's exactly why I bought the first one. I was at Walmart on Black Friday and they had one copy left for $10 so I grabbed it. I had no intention of going in there for that game. I was looking for God of War Collection, but that was already gone. After I started playing it, I couldn't put it down.

SCEA:

InFAMOUS 2 Countdown Begins: Release Date, Pre-Orders & HERO Edition Announced!
Posted by Chuck Lacson // Associate Product Marketing Manager, SCEA

Last Friday, an inFAMOUS 2 post broke down the power of choice in inFAMOUS 2 and spawned some very energetic comments on not just the Karma system, but another topic as well -

Quote:
“Release date please!”- TomHoang
“Please give us a release date already! Geez!”- DeviantBoi
“PLEASE TELLS US THE RELEASE DATE SO I COULD MARK IT ON MY CALENDER AND SAVE MONEY FROM NOW !!” - MilaNumber14
Well to Tom, Deviant, Mila, and the rest of you amazing fans, we are happy to announce that inFAMOUS 2 will be launching in North America exclusively on the PlayStation 3 on June 7th, 2011!

In about 4 months, players will finally begin the next chapter in Cole’s adventures. (Packfront Alert!)

On top of this, we’d love to confirm that on that same day we are also launching the inFAMOUS 2 HERO Edition (aka the Best Kept Secret EVER) for $99.99 (msrp).

Short of actual electrical super powers, the HERO Edition delivers everything an inFamous fan could want including a highly detailed 8.5” Cole MacGrath statue, a sportable sling pack modeled after Cole’s own in-game gear, the inFAMOUS #1 mini comic from DC Comics, the official inFAMOUS 2 HERO Edition Soundtrack and a super voucher code for a collection of in-game content.

Starting today participating retailers kick off official pre-order programs letting you score one of the following bonus items listed below.

24K GOLD AMP

Cole’s nasty new weapon definitely delivers the pain, but when you pre-order at Amazon.com you can get a gold (in-game) version to dish it out in style.

KESSLER SKIN

Experience inFAMOUS 2 as Cole’s super-powered nemesis from the first inFAMOUS story if you pre-order from Best Buy.

LIGHTNING HOOK

GameStop fans can unlock this special power with their pre-order, an electro-kinetic tether that lets you snare and pull enemies and objects towards Cole.

ELECTROCUTION GRENADE

Visit Walmart and pre-order to get powerful grenade that ties enemies down with arcing electricity before going BOOM.

DIGITAL SOUNDTRACK

Music lovers can download the official musical soundtrack to Cole’s latest adventure if they pre-order from participating retailers.

Hope this is exciting news for everyone. Look out for more great updates to come, both on INFAMOUSTHEGAME.com or right here on the PS blogosphere!

SCEE:

inFAMOUS 2: Packfront Unveil, Special Edition & Hero Edition!
Posted on 18 February by Elliott Linger – European Product Manager
Hi guys,

I’m really pleased to share with you the brand new packfront for the upcoming PS3 exclusive from Sucker Punch Productions – inFamous 2! Check it out below:

inFamous 2 continues the saga of Cole MacGrath as he takes a dramatic journey down the coast to the Southern city of New Marais, where he faces a new, darker entity, known as “The Beast.”

Throughout his journey Cole is once again faced with the moral choice: to use his extraordinary abilities to save all of mankind or follow a more chaotic and destructive path.

inFamous 2 introduces advanced superpowers, an improved melee fighting system, destructible environments, a vibrant, dense and interactive city with over 100 simultaneous characters on screen, and much much more.

Come launch, for you fans out there, you will be able to get hold of the inFamous 2 Special Edition which will have a stunning HD 3D lenticular cover. Check out the good and bad variants below:

In the Special Edition you will receive a voucher code to download the following exclusive items:
  • ‘Electrocution Grenade’ limited edition power
  • ‘Original Cole’ skin
  • ‘Golden Amp’

For you true inFamous fans out there, we are also producing a limited “Hero Edition” version which not only includes the Special Edition, but also a replica of Cole’s sling bag, a Cole figurine, limited edition comic book, soundtrack and all of the pre-order/promo powers (phew)! Check it out below.

The Hero Edition will be limited it quantities and only available in certain PAL territories – so please check with your local retailer for availability.

Finally, we also have the following pre-order bonuses which will be available at select retailers.
  • ‘Lightning Hook’ exclusive power
  • ‘Kessler’ skin
  • Original Soundtrack

I love SCEE's special edition's like Ico, SotC, Heavy Rain. And they're usually normally priced.

Good or Evil, GOOD OR EVIL?

Just before my birthday

I'm still not planning on buying it, just renting to play it safe. But if someone were to get it for me for my birthday, well then I wouldn't tell them no

I'm also hoping we will get a beta of Uncharted 3's multiplayer like we did when the first Infamous came with a beta of Uncharted 2's multiplayer.

And the trend continues: Euro box art >> U.S box art.

Damn all of you over there!

Oh yeah, bought day one.

Perfect summertime game in NYC.

I'm liking the SCEE special edition. Does anyone else find it reminiscent of Killzone 3 in a way, that there is the big hitting Hero Edition (a la Helghast Edition) for the hardcore, and then there's the more budget friendly Special Edition, with special packaging and a few downloadable goodies. Regardless, I plan to buy the Special Edition, and I hope the rise in Special Editions and Hero Editions and what not means we have a chance at seeing something special for the release of Resistance 3

Gamestop pre-order for me to get that 'electric hook'!! Gonna be some bad ass combos with THAT one haha . I'm curious if that digital soundtrack pre-order bonus will be at all stores or a specific one.

I just bought the first infamous about a month ago..I was wondering when you finish the game can you still roam around the city and places to find all the stuff for the trophies...like deaddrops/side missions/shards/etc/
or do you have to do it all before you finish the game. Trying to make it thru before the second one comes out

Yup, you can collect afterwards as well. I'd recommend though printing off a map and keeping track. Also, you probably already know this, but collect as many Blast Shards as you can so you extend your 'battery'. There is a limit, but you'll still get XP for collecting more.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm under the impression that the digital soundtrack is exclusive to the Hero Edition.

The most difficult things to complete after the story ends are the Stunts. Things like knocking (5?) enemies off a rooftop at once. Best to do them as you go along for the most convenient opportunities.

I'm leaning on the SCEE Hero edition now. They have Infamous 1 Cole skin. I like the much more than a Kessler skin.

Yup the stunts are by far the hardest part in fact that was the stunt that kept me from my plat for a long time. I think it's only 3 people you have to knock off a roof with one shockwave. "Have a nice fall" I believe it's called.

Anyway there is a youtube video for that one if you've cleared out all the areas you can go back to Zeke's place and it's down the tracks there is a spot where you can get 4-5 guys to spawn every time.

Looking forward to getting inFamous 2.
