No point in blaming a channel they will air what makes them money. And what makes money is shows that get them revenue from toy sales and other goods generally from a younger audience that tends to enjoy simpler and more colorful content vs story and characters which in my opinion is a real shame. Young Justice drew in an audience but sadly not the toy buying kind. Its crazy that BTAS was able to suceed with a both great stories and characters and toy sales, its a shame this one could not succeed as well.
It was a pure buisness move. Does that suck? sure it does, but its already clear as you guys have said it will not air on CN most likely, I theorize either netflix or CW Seed as I explained earlier. |

One thing I will say I did notice regarding Young Justice while it was on. The toy line that was out was part of the DC Universe line (The Collector's line of toys Mattel did for DC at the time) but I never saw a line that was meant for kids to buy. Given the parents buy the toys for their kids, I doubt parents were willing to pay the extra price for the collector's line.
Basically I'm saying had Mattel done a children's line of YJ toys in addition to the collector's line this three year timeframe of no YJ would be a different story (whether it'd still be on CN or not is a different story) |

I really hope it lands on CW so everyone can see it! Not everyone gets CN or Netflix. THe big question is whether they got the same animation studio to make this season. The art in season One & Two was some of the best drawn TV animation I have ever seen.

![]() ![]() Subtitle for series revealed! Outsiders. 2018 Release confirmed (shame) Confirmed will release on DC branded VOD service (no name yet) So I assume something akin to CW Seed kinda odd that they did not use an established brand http://www.dccomics.com/blog/2017/04...e?sf73185681=1 http://deadline.com/2017/04/dc-digit...rs-1202076831/ Quote:

I have no interest in yet another paid for service however when I saw this:

Hopefully they also sell it on other VOD providers like Vudu and iTunes. I am sure others will choose to support that way if it is an option. |

WB already put out something similar for Boomerang with all the old Looney Tunes, etc cartoons. I haven't looked in to it yet to get enough of an idea how it works, I only saw the commercial on Cartoon Network. That would probably give a good idea how this will function.
Edit: I just took a quick look and the Boomerang one offers a 30 day free trial. Right now it's available on Android and IOS devices (in addition to desktop) but they are working on Amazon, Apple TV, Roku, video game consoles, etc. Not surprising since it just launched. After thinking about it, I am a bit worried that the viewership will not be there to support these shows. I don't understand why everyone thinks they can run their own platforms. Nobody has even proven the concept of running their own channels, other than services like HBO and Showtime, and both of those took decades of programming, and the support of cable company to garner that success and provide a reason to invest in a standalone service.
I really like YJ and look forward to this Titans show, but both of them and say the entire back catalogue of DC animated shows and films (heck throw in all of the live action ones too) most likely are not going to be enough to sustain it. But as you said if they were to do something like Marvel Unlimited it may draw people in, but at the same time Library users like myself have access to a huge chunk of DC's back catalogue of comics via Hoopla, and they just got the Vol 2. issues of the rebirth series this month. It is not that long of wait relatively speaking, so why would I want to pay? Early access? for some that may be a big deal, but I like reading comics in volumes as it is anyways. Regardless this is all speculation as it is. For all we know it will be a free ad supported model, they can sell the show on VOD like i stated, and perhaps like their comics S3 will eventually show up on netflix etc. and just be a limited exclusive to their special new service. Still really odd to me that they did not try and beef up CW Seed seems like it would have been the perfect fit for it, or for all we know it will just be a re branding of CW Seed. |
