I'm sorry but although I have found the thread which shows how to replace the spine-label, I can't find the right template to detirmine how the inside spine should be printed in order to have the entire inside artwork cover both the spine and both insides. Could anyone tell me if such a template is available?

Easiest way i found mate is using a hair dryer ![]() get the hair dryer and warm the spine for about 30 seconds than using either a old card or knife slowly slide it underneath the spine, carefull as they bend very easy. Than to stick back on i use double sided clear tape. |

I'm gonna use the same artwork, and will probably attempt the spine too. I have only done one spine art job before, and although I had a few problems (including creasing the spine metal) it looked pretty good. (see #294 on this thread)

I can't see anything wrong with that one, looks great Kiwi. I'm not really sure if I can be bothered to go through the process of removing the spine. Looking at Blu's tutorial seems like too much can go wrong. I'll experiment when I get the tools together.

It looks like people clean off all the glue. Then as long as the replacement glue is translucent, people use it. I've seen pritt stick, double sided tape and many other types recommended.
OK. So I managed to remove my Green Zone spine using a knife. It bended slightly at the bottom but I think it's OK! Phew. Last edited by Orton31291; 01-28-2012 at 10:19 PM. |

Posting in, and reading this thread, made me want to have a go at another SteelBook, so I dragged out one of my less coveted titles (Expendables UK) and decided to practice on this before attempting work on Drive.
I soaked the spine in hot soapy water for 5 or 6 minutes, but when I came to remove it, some areas were still quite hard, and I got some creases in the spine, but hey, it was for practice, and it looks okay. Here is a pic. ![]() Last edited by PS3_Kiwi; 01-29-2012 at 12:18 AM. |
