Heritage LD had some played/open titles in a wire rack inside the electronics area including some 4Ks with badly x-ed out barcodes. Stickered in red at $9.99, but not sure if they'd go down 50% too. I had them all, so did not get any.

I did get 2 disc only games hiding in the very bottom rack for $5 each.

Finally putting 50% off signs at the movies in the Winnipeg store today. Hardly anything has moved there in the past week. Many prices still quite high on BD that have been out for a number of years. I guess that’s why I never really bought much there.
Nice to see a great sale, but too bad it means we lose another place carrying movies. I guess it’s mainly Walmart and Sunrise for most of us now.

I talked briefly with one of the sales managers in the tech. department at my local London Drugs. He informed me that they will continue to carry Blu-ray discs. What is happening now is a clearance of their in-store stock. London Drugs will no longer maintain an internal Blu-ray media supply system.

Instead, responsibility for the Blu-ray section is being farmed out to an external provider. This supplier will be entirely responsible for the physical media--transporting the goods to retail stores, stocking the shelves, applying price labels, etc. London Drugs employees will no longer be doing this work. Sounds like the same system as is in place at Walmart.

Does sound exactly like Walmart. That would be nice, but 3 different guys at London told me they were getting out of physical media all together. Could be their getting out is letting someone else do it. Guess we’ll see. Maybe some stores will still carry and some won’t? Whoever was in charge in the Winnipeg store, if someone was, sure didn’t know about ordering, pricing and sales to get rid of old titles. So much old over priced stock……and two dozen copies of Madame Web!

Went to Broadway and Cambie location and pickup up Guardians of the Galaxy 4k w/ slip for $12.99...will have to return the blu ray I bought. Not a bad selection left but nothing else for me.

Quirky note, the only Criterion I have seen in the three locations I went to is Triangle of Sadness in all three locations...might be others but I didn't notice.

The only Criterion 4K Blu-ray I've seen has been Triangle of Sadness. It seems to be lacking in terms of supplements, compared to the typical Criterion release. I did manage to find Arrow's Pitch Black on 4K, after seeing the regular Blu-ray a bunch of times. Odd thing is that due to a slipcover issue, the 4K release lacks it entirely. But it does have a booklet inside.

Also managed to get most of the Kino 4Ks. That's been the big deal to me so far, compared to most of the studio title deals.
I've got the following now: Marathon Man, Staying Alive, 3 Days of the Condor, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Staying Alive is definitely the most common of their 4Ks. I'm only missing Mad Max, High Plains Drifter, and Escape from Alcatraz.

I went to the Richmond BC location and found "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Band" on DVD and "Carrie" (1976) with the cardboard faceplate.

The DVDs and Blu-rays were priced at 2/$10 and 2/$15. I only wanted one title of each format and they rang-through as $2.50 & $3.75. You don't actually have to buy two of each format.

I found the 4K Blu-ray slipbox edition of True Romance but did not find, since the sale started, 12 Monkeys nor Flash Gordon on 4K. Seems the Facebook resellers have gotten to them before I had the opportunity.

Was in my store today and all the 50% off signs are gone. It took them weeks to put them up, but it seems strange that they’re gone. There was no one around to ask wtf. Anyone know if the sale is still on or did they just stop it for some reason? Still quite a selection. Despite the sale, it seems London was never the place to shop for BDs.

Last I went to a store this month, the 50 percent signs were still up and the additional 50 percent still works. The limited online selection is also still 50 percent off. Still a lot of movies left, especially regular Blu-rays but even a number of 4Ks, depending on the location. Some 4Ks like those VVS ones that are still $23 after the discount are going to be a tough sell. Besides the random 50 cent Blu-rays and DVDs I got, the Kino Lorber 4Ks were the best deal, but I think they're pretty much gone now, besides maybe Staying Alive.

Thanks.

Yep, a lot of $30.00 blurays that can be had for $12.00 anywhere. Their pricing and lack of promotion for what seems like a clear out sale is mind boggling. I did buy more than one movie for 50% off which worked out to way below the stickered price.

Went to another location today. The 50 percent off has been extended until December 31st. Was hoping for 75 percent off sometime, but that's not happening any time soon.

Last time I was at LD, the worker seemed to think they would move to the WM model where a vendor handles all their stock. I think they just need to empty their shelves more, which is why the sale just keeps going...

4Ks are mostly gone now, besides the ones with seemingly low demand/high MSRPs (eg. Bloodshot). Did get The Magicians: The Complete Series on Blu-ray for $25 last week ($80 sticker price probably kept people away).

Brentwood LD in Calgary had all movies 75% off, I went to another location and it was still only 50% off.

They didn't have much left but I got 80 for Brady for $3, Gemini Man 4K was $4.50 and a Richard Pryor 2 pack Blu Ray was $4.

Was only 50 percent off at the location I visited yesterday. I'm assuming this is location specific.

Seems like the sale has really stalled out at my location. 75% off might move a bit more.

Here's hoping they'll make this 75 percent a thing across all locations for Black Friday or something. Otherwise the stickers on the shelves indicate the 50 percent is until the end of the year.

Extra 50 percent off has been removed from their scant online Blu-ray selection. Wonder what will happen in store though.
