Those earlier noisy MPEG-2 releases and smoothed-over VC-1 for that matter are really showing their age.

I agree, that slipcover looks amazing. I hope it comes with the standard release.

I will say after seeing the reviews and some screens of Jumper 3D, the same technology was used that they utilized to turn i,Robot to 3D. Being it's Fox re-releasing this in 3D in the same manner, it's pretty safe to say quality wise we'll be looking at the JVC conversion method. While I'm okay with this, others definitely will not be. However, I'll keep hopes they pushed the boundaries a little further and harder than the latter 2 conversions. |

http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/1179...-converted-3d# Many on the non 3D forum are ignoring the fact that one of the advantages of the JVC automated process is one 3D disk that plays the left eye image as the 2D version. It will be the same for the Predator release. They can't help speculating that some grand "all new transfer" and remaster will result in a stand alone 2D disk that will be superior to the 2010 UHE release. With the JVC process, the 2D version is nothing more than the "left eye" of the 3D image. The mastering was done for the best 3D image. No consideration, whatsoever, was given to complaints about the UHE for this release. Yet, they keep pointing to the fact that there will be a second disk, based on tweets from James Finn, the Fox Entertainment marketing spokesman. He and Vincent Marcais were recently promoted. Marcais was the one that rejected complaints about the UHE as "unfair" over two years ago. The second disk will contain the extras, since they will not fit on the 3D disk. In order to keep costs down (the business model for low cost 3D catalog conversions doesn't work, otherwise), the cheapest way to provide the extras is to include a copy of the 2D Ultimate Hunter Edition Blu-ray. I wouldn't be surprised if they did that, rather than just port the UHE extras onto a disk. ![]() The primary reason Predator was chosen for conversion is fan based support, evidenced, in part, by the continuing strong sales of the UHE Blu-ray. |

Or they package the old disc in the pack with it, so you have a shit 2D version and a shit 3D version.....

Titles like the Avatar, which was designed a a promotional disc originally, allowed the user to playback the disc in 2D or 3D. When Fox/Paramount dealt with Titanic, it was authored specifically to not allow the user to playback the film in 2D. (Baring 3D Players/TV, that allow you to shut off the 3D function on the fly.) fitprod |

Those other quickie conversions already have very solid 2D releases, in this case I would hope the folks at Fox would be a bit more attentive to the 2D side of things third time around...
