I've got my pre-order in for the set because I saw that they were including a 3D version of Part 3. Immediately afterwards, I came here to see what Robert had to say. I had a feeling that 3DFA wouldn't be involved in any restoration, glad he let us down quickly.

Either way, I pre-ordered it almost solely to support finally having that film in an official 3D release even though I already own the OOP tin set of the complete series.

Assuming shout read their customers comments and complaints messing around on 2 3D titles one would think they will get it right this time (3 times is a charm ?) now regardless of which co. worked on the 3D it is finally nice to get this "officially" released in proper 3D. I have the old DVD boxset still so it will be an awesome upgrade. October can't get here soon enough.

It's from Shout, so it's most likely uncorrected 3D, just like all of their other vintage 3D releases. I'd still like to buy it but don't care about the other films. Would definitely prefer a standalone Blu-ray 3D to purchase.

Just a reminder:

Any discussion of bootleg releases, torrenting, downloading, etc will be removed.

We have to be strict because if one person mentions it, then another does and before long everyone's at it. So, if you want your post removed from this discussion, just include a reference to any of those things.

It's mad that this appears to be finally coming, great news of course but a shame for many considering the pricey box set it is part of. As 13thman says, hopefully another country like Germany will put out a standalone 3D blu, we'll see I guess.

I love the Friday the 13th movies but I only own 1 to 4 on blu. Could never be bothered to import the US release of the entire collection, or at least the first 8. I still own all of these on VHS lol.

The 3D in part 3 is truly magnificent though, a real feast for the eyes.

I'm ok w the box set (tbh I'm as excited for, presumably, original audio 4-8, new masters 1-4) I just wish there was an assurance from SF that they're going to even attempt to address possible issues w 3D.

My question to those who know better, did single strip go out to theaters with errors like Metalstorm and Amityville? Was there an intermediary step between negative and/or IP/Prints to address alignment etc?

There’s a shout factory insider on the main Blu-ray topic, I asked about the restoration and stereo conversion. Will see if I get an answer.

It did show a lot of crosstalk on my old active TV, but that's due to the panel tech, and when I watched it last year on my LG passive TV the crosstalk was virtually gone.

Metalstorm was kind of a mess due to the state of the film elements.

Different studio, but I watched Jaws 3D this weekend and the image was pretty spectacular, and that was released directly by Universal. So it's possible that if this was provided by Paramount (which it most certainly was) then it could be pretty decent.
I agree concerning the 3D on Amityville.

Wouldn’t it be the same 3-D release that the DCP’s were created from for the various 3-D cinema showings that happen from time-to-time? Has anyone attended one of these and can comment on the 3-D quality?

I've happy about this, but will keep my DVD of Part 3 in case something happens to my set up.

No, Paramount has done a new 4K scan of the original film elements. I believe most of those Exhumed Films showings are 35mm prints anyway.

Really faded 35mm prints. This 3-D blu-ray will be a massive improvement.
