Yes. This was the advanced ad campaign with the different logo. It also has quick shots of cut material from the film which I posted about previous. Look when they name the actors there's a demon make-up shot not seen in the film, and one of Richard Burton covered in white powder.

That's a classic, but they still do good teasers. Nightcrawler, Only God Forgives, The Master, Prometheus, Kill List, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Kill Bill Vol. 1, Thirst, Biutiful, The Ring, Inception, Little Children...

Nothing has been shown/announced yet, but if it's like the DVD set it may be 4 slim cases in a box set.

Since the release date isn't far off, I'm hoping for pics of the set as well as a full list of bonus features very soon.

I think the guy who did that fan restoration kinda botched the color timing in his own right and made it too green.
Apparently the fan restoration is being remade. For now I'll be sticking with my '97 DVD. The Exocist is my favourite horror movie ever and I would love to have a perfect version, unfortunately one doesn't exist yet.

TBH, I would imagine its a single case with 6 Discs and a slipcase (where the case slides into the side). Like the Nightmare on Elm Street collection.

Are there any screenshots or video clips out there that show the difference between the original color timing vs. the new? I'm curious to see what changes were made (blue/green filter?)

I was able to catch about an hour of part 2 today on television.

My god, that movie is a freaking mess.

The plot is almost unintelligible and Richard Burton is sleepwalking through the entire film..."Where's my check?!...Where's my bloody check you w*nkers?!!!"

And Louise Fletcher is just god awful in her role. She was great in Cuckoo's Nest, but her acting range is extremely limited.

As a sequel to one of the greatest films of all time, I think it's an abomination.

...to each his own.

Its the exorcism. Has a blu tint. Its had this color timing since the 25Th anniversary print. 1998. Do you have the Universal copy of Halloween 2 by chance? The Terror In the Aisles horror doc. Has some original clips of The Exorcist with the original color timing.

Thanks for the info! I do have that version of Halloween 2, so I'll check it out tonight. Interesting.

I was unable get direct screen grabs from the BD. However I was able to get them directly from the original 1997 DVD. In my opinion this is the best transfer for color and contrast. It's what I remember the film to be - I saw it in the theater 12 times through the years. The feeling from the tone of the film is carried over to the way it looks here; from my memory. Notice, there is NO BLUE TINT whatsoever. The color is pure with more depth to the sets, complexions and lighting. There wasn't photoshop filters back then, no CG.

The color of the 97 DVD is perfect. I have no clue what Friedkin is thinking.

I just saw Exorcist II: The Heretic for the first time last night. It wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Don't get worked up, it was still awful. But the cinematography was quite nice and there were a handful of creepy moments. Shame about the acting, and the nonsensical script, and the overreliance on that utterly ridiculous "synchronizer" device.

At least there were a few laugh-worthy howlers. "Your machine has proved scientifically that there's an ancient demon locked within her!"

I was reminded quite a bit of Halloween 5, in a way; a very pretty-looking sequel with a premise that could have been interesting if it made more sense and didn't introduce a silly psychic link between the hero and villain out of nowhere. Halloween 5 wasn't quite as bad though, IMO.

Wow, thanks for posting! There definitely is a clear distinction between the 97 and later versions. I'm just so used to seeing the blue filter, but I think I prefer the original look better.

The Exorcist II is growing on me. I didn't like it much the first time I watched it, but this past month I saw it twice in one week and thought it was really interesting. Linda Blair is great, very cute, and I love that it's not a rehash of the first film but rather an expansion. The concepts are interesting, it's just the execution is bizarre. Beautiful cinematography, however, and a unique soundtrack. I wish the US version had the original alternate opening.

I agree; it's nice that it's not the same thing again, many of the ideas - Reagan in psychotherapy, the priest's investigation into the first film's events, the temptation of calling on a force of evil for a good purpose and the threats of being corrupted by it, the idea of darkness being drawn to powerful forces for good to destroy them, the fear of a demon lying just barely dormant within you - have a ton of potential. I'm more than willing to believe Linda Blair's statement that the original script was great. But man did they ever #%&@ it up.
