Thanks. I just wanted to make sure. Sometimes Blu-rays are not worth it when there is only slight difference between dvd/blu-ray because sometimes no work is done. Then the blu-ray it's just a slightly clearer better port.

I just got around to watching the 25th Anniversary BD and finally saw how bad the subs are. Ugh. Did I read in this thread (or elsewhere maybe) that the Japanese disc has proper subs? Or is there a version of the original movie that is not window boxed, has good picture quality and proper subs? Those were just terrible.

The Japanese Blu-ray does have correct English subtitles and is definitely the one to get.

I'm doing a really bad job saving up for the 2nd GIG set. I had about half the money saved up but then I went out today and spent $50 on 10 blu-rays. Something similar also happened last month as well. At this rate I will never get this set. Must show some self control.

Just a follow up, wasn't one of the versions window boxed? I see there are a few releases in Japan. The one that came out in 2011 is the good one, I assume?

I don't believe there are any versions of the original GITS that aren't windowboxed on blu ray. The 2.0 version was full frame.

Just went to KimchiDVD and 2nd GIG release seems to be delayed, the new release date is April 19th.

Cool - I sent a request through KimchiDVD's site back on February 20 asking about changing my 2nd Gig pre-order from standard to EMS shipping, and it took them a full two weeks to reply, but I did get a response this morning saying they will change it for me and send me a Paypal invoice for the difference. I figured I'd try doing it that way rather than attempt to cancel my current order and re-order through the website, and they did accommodate my request!

Too bad we have to wait an extra month for the release, but that's OK, I have enough expensive anime shipping to me between now and then to pay for anyway, lol...

I'm shocked you got a reply. I've been wanting to cancel the email I used to order my 2nd Gig from them, but I'm afraid to do so till it ships because there's no way to do it on the site and I figure they will never get back to me... (Still never heard a reply to previous emails I sent them)

Like Girls With Guns, they responded to my request to modify my shipping to EMS after about a week and a half. It looks like I got lucky.
