My friend for a copy and the packing looks good and it has the book and the soundtrack but no cel and the disc looks burned? Is this how it's supposed to look?

If you're referring to the newer VHD (Bloodlust) release in JP, then no, the bluray disc is not supposed to look like that. How does the reverse look?

Imported from Japan (from ebay). He contacted the seller and they are also suspicious but his supplier insists its a real disc.

Unless it's supposed to be black for some reason, that's a burned disc.

Mostly just wishful thinking.

Discotek doesn't have a history of letting licenses lapse and then re-releasing them again later on. So if it's gone (and it looks like it's gone, since it's out-of-stock everywhere), it's almost certainly gone for good.

The Japanese release is quite expensive, and it came out recently. I could see Discotek (or another company) releasing the remaster on Blu-ray at some point, but I’m guessing they would once again only be allowed to include the English audio. If the Discotek Blu-ray remains OOP, I could see a company like GKIDS doing it.
