Are you kidding me?! Its murphy's law. If I were actually willing to buy the movie in 3D, which for Jerry Lewis I really would be, then it gets its 3D release cancelled. I happen to like Olive films and this really disappoints me.

Bob mentioned in another thread that this issuance of a flat Blu-ray version of "Money from Home" reduces the chance of us ever seeing a 3d Blu-ray version. I wonder if that has had an effect on "Hondo" and "Taza"?

Since I am waiting to buy Hondo chances are strong that it will never make it out in 3D :/

Sadly, it does.

Success of a catalog title 3-D Blu-ray release is largely dependent on people buying it who don't have 3-D capability because they want to own the film. Remove that factor and the chance of breaking even becomes much more difficult.

I imagine we are all thoroughly disappointed about MONEY FROM HOME, but this situation points up how much we have to be thankful for in Kino Lorber's support of vintage 3-D on Blu-Ray.

How about one more e-mail, everybody? How about a quick line to Kino Lorber thanking them for all they do for us 3-D fans, and telling them how much we all look forward to their upcoming Paramount releases? If you've pre-ordered THOSE REDHEADS FROM SEATTLE, maybe mention that too.

Kino Lorber deserves to hear kudos for their diligence and hard work.

In November 2014, I had my first meeting with the staff of Kino Lorber in New York. I met with some very smart and talented people, including company President and CEO, Richard Lorber. I explained my decades-long crusade with stereoscopic cinema and how dedicated I was to get this material out of the vaults and seen again.

More than anyone else, they understood and agreed with our goals. It was SO exhilarating to realize that we were on the same page. Richard said he would back us up 100% and help us to secure studio licenses. Profit was not a primary motivation, he was content to break even. Not only that, whenever possible, they would secure new transfers of elements that hadn't been touched in decades.

I can't begin to tell you how refreshing it was hearing those words. For the past several years, we had received rejection after rejection from companies whose only interest was the almighty dollar. ("We don't care if it's a great or lost film, how much can we make on it?") It was a wonderful day for the Archive and since that time, Kino has released six vintage 3-D titles on Blu-ray. I'm very pleased to say there are more to come!

When I read the post by our good friend, Mike Ballew, I knew that I had to comment. Please take a moment to write a note and express your appreciation to the wonderful and dedicated staff at Kino Lorber!

Thanks!
Kino Lorber definitely deserves a big 3D thank you, agreed.
While it would be great if the releases were region free for those outside the states, it's still nice to have these 3D films preserved and often seen for the first time for many 3D fans of today.

Our dear friend Trustin Howard (aka Slick Slavin from "Stardust in Your Eyes") has passed away. He was a wonderful man and a great friend, always there with an encouraging word of support. We will miss his smile and delightful sense of humor. To those who took the time to reach out earlier this month and express words of appreciation and support, you helped to brighten his final days and thank you for doing so.

Rest in peace, Mr. Howard.

He's a wonderful man and a living legend with a career in comedy dating back to the 1940's. If you know his work from "Stardust In Your Eyes" (in our 3-D RARITIES collection) or one of his other career highlights, such as writing and performing the rockabilly classic "Speed Crazy," introducing Elvis Presley in KING CREOLE, writing for Joey Bishop and "This is Your Life," etc. please take a moment to send a note of appreciation and encouragement. It would really mean a lot.

That was well and truly one of the most memorable nights of my life.

I wish I could really convey the quiet joy I felt, to sit and enjoy an extended private conversation with a man so knowledgeable, so gracious and winsome as Trustin Howard. Not even the crushing L.A. traffic, lurching us forward inch by inch, could dim our laughter, nor Trustin's remarkable trove of show business memories and life observations.

Bob is spot-on in his description of Trustin's set that night. Trustin seemed so frail and tired as we helped him climb nine or ten inches onto the slightly elevated platform that made a stage. Then Bob and I stepped off to his left and watched in wonder as Trustin lifted to his full height and the years fell away. Slick Slavin was back to wow us one more time. The crowd loved him. We all did.

Trustin was a fine entertainer and working writer who knew plenty of important and famous and interesting people in his day. But in my few hours with him one on one, I can tell you, he himself was a splendid, splendid man.

We were prepared to restore the complete film in 3-D at that time...

Maybe someone should start a petition like they did for LG 3D TV's . They have over 10,000 supporters.

In the future, perhaps reconsider purchasing from a company with such a poor attitude toward presenting a film as it was meant to be seen.
I will not of course purchase this film! I already have a good flat DVD anyway. I'm going to make a point of boycotting "Money from Home" as I did with "Hondo", and I would suggest that the rest of you avid classic 3d fans do the same. In addition, I will avoid making any purchases from Olive as a form of protest for their short-sided policies. I have informed them as such.

A while back when I complained about the pretty low quality of "Ape" (good 3d, though), Bob kidded me about "Taking one for the team"(LOL). Of course! I consider "The Stewardesses" another sacrifice (although "Experiments in Love" made it all worth it). But I (and everybody else, I hope), must do everything we can to support Kino Lober in their efforts with 3dFilmArchive. There's not enough of us to help make them a lot of money, but we need to make sure their efforts stay in the black at least a little, or at a minimum break even. And if we think we "took a hit" once in a while, so what? It will help these films keep coming! So like me, BUY EVERYTHING!

Default On the subject of MONEY FROM HOME

I saw those 3-D excerpts from MONEY FROM HOME that were shown at MoMA in New York a few years back. I can tell you that the results equal the very best of the 3-D Film Archive's work so far. I hold out hope that someday this important and very entertaining Golden Age title will yet come under the technical stewardship of Bob Furmanek and Greg Kintz, who will work wonders to restore it to its full visual splendor.

The decision-maker at Olive Films may feel he has made a prudent business decision, releasing MONEY FROM HOME to Blu-Ray in a 9-year-old 2-D HD transfer. But he has shown that he is really no great fan of The Movies, and that's a shame.

In case we are tempted to say the decision was strictly business, I will shout back: Soichiro Honda and Ferdinand Porsche loved cars. Colonel Sanders loved chicken and Dave Thomas loved burgers. Jack Daniel loved whiskey and Hugh Hefner loved (ahem) photography. The great leaders in the free market are those who actually savor what they sell. The decision-maker at Olive Films does not love movies and does not really care about the serious and discerning film collector who has until now supported that company's output.

I regret that so many casual collectors probably will buy MONEY FROM HOME in 2-D on Blu-Ray. I forgive them. They love Martin and Lewis and good clean movie fun, and maybe they don't always watch movies with both eyes wide open. But anyone who distributes classic films on home video ought to know enough to care, and that is surely not so in this case.
