Looking forward to this. I hope Stereo D offers equal or even better 3D as they did for VII.

3-D will no doubt be exactly the same, unless they shoot native.

The Force Awakens would have been much improved if they'd shot in 3-D.

I wish Disney would show a little courage and set a precedent.

While I agree that filmed 3D is the best in terms of a true 3D image and would like to see Star Wars filmed in 3D, I'm also keeping in mind, outstanding conversions of strong 3D such as with Titanic, Jurassic Park and Pacific Rim.

Star Wars Force Awakens had, IMO very satisfying 3D however it's worth bearing in mind that Gareth Edwards last 3D movie, Godzilla had fairly weak 3D so we shall have to see.

Agree, I watched Godzilla in 3D in theatres and I loved it , but the 3D is OK at best.

Agreed I also think SW VII had some of the most thrilling and satisfying 3D I've seen in a long time (It completely fulfilled my desire for a 3D Star Wars film and I will purchase it immediately if given the opportunity when it releases on 3D Bluray) and Stereo D clearly had a ball converting one of the biggest franchise releases of all time imo.

I love native 3D and wish more movies were shot that way, but 3D conversion has come so far to the point that soon both methods will be nearly comparable (I think native will still have the edge overall just because it was an image captured for real with everything the eye would be able to see in real life). As I was going through my Marvel Cinematic Universe Marathon this weekend, I noticed a nice evolution in the quality of the 3D conversions as the series progressed. You can really tell they got better and more refined pretty quickly, with the conversions for Iron Man 3, GoTG, and Avengers: Age of Ultron impressing greatly (Ultron in particular looked even more excellent than I remembered and GotG is one of the finest 3D conversions in the MCU and film industry to date imo). I feel SW VII reaped the benefits of the progress made with 3D conversion technology and Stereo D gave me just about everything I could've wished for for a 3D Star Wars experience.

Thanks. While I want to see a Star Wars movie with strong 3D, medium 3D is still better than mild layers, as we saw with Episode I: The Phantom Menace.

Default Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

In Real D 3D and IMAX 3D

I'm cautious about this since the 3D for Godzilla was average at best.

Looks... OK. I wasn't much of a fan of TFA. I kinda enjoyed it when I saw it but on reflection i'm in no rush to rewatch it as it didn't really do that much for me. This looks like more of the same in the sense that it's going heavily down the nostalgia path. Gareth Edwards has done some good work though so that gives me some hope.

This trailer specifically is OK not bad, not great.

The 3D for Godzilla was indeed average but all the same, I found parts of the film unwatchable in 2D, it was just so dark that I couldn't see what was going on. That wasn't a problem watching the 3D version.

Gareth Edwards has gone on record already about finding pop-out distracting, so I'm sure the 3D in Rogue One will be serviceable at best. Spectacular 3D it won't be.

Not watching this in 3D at theaters thanks to Lucasfilm/Disney with delaying TFA 3D Blu-Ray. Would only piss me off if i never get to have that 3D experience again. If i don't watch in 3D i feel like i have not missed anything if if doesn't come on 3D Blu. But if it "hopefully" does get a 3D Blu-Ray will get that for sure.

I like the new trailer. If Darth Vader is in this, even better. That might be him with the dark cape on in that shot with the red Imperial Guards. This is actually they type of movie I wished III would've been; showing Vader in his full costume and mask with the classic deep voice.

I love strong 3D, but found much of Godzilla 2014's 3D satisfying even if it was mostly medium 3D layers. There are a lot of interior shots through the glass that look really great in 3D. The giant sized monsters will naturally have more mild 3D since they're enormous in scale.

Besides, they can get a new team to convert this with stronger 3D at least on par with Force Awakens' 3D.

I see your point. Fighting for the cause of supporting blu ray 3D at home is great, though by not seeing it in 3D in theaters and instead choosing to see the 2D version, you're also missing the opportunity to support and enjoy more 3D even if it's a fleeting experience you might only get to see one time, depending on Lucasfilm's blu ray 3D track record which is off to a questionable start so far (the delay of the SWVII blu ray 3D version till later this year which stinks).

More 3D ticket sales could convince Lucasfilm that a blu ray 3D version is warranted earlier next time. If no one went to see Rogue One in 3D at theaters in protest of the SWVII blu ray 3D delay, that could be even worse for a pending home blu ray 3D release of Rogue One.

Supporting 3D in theaters and at home makes a difference. Just a thought.

the 3D Blu-Ray better come out with the 2D Blu-Ray release. So we will not have this waiting game again like for TFA

Saw it on IMAX, the conversion is OK. There's some weird stuff where they push too much foreground, which bothered me in a few shots as they are short shots, but it's fine.

I'll be seeing it in RealD 3D & Atmos in the Boston RPX theater.. Basically my best option in the Boston area.

Cool. How would you compare this Rogue One 3D conversion to Stereo D's Force Awakens 3D conversion, both being from Stereo D?
