This is the second time you've mentioned GTA V. Why not compare it to the first RDR?

That being said.......they implemented swinging horse balls. Once they're seen......it's all I see.

Because it's their most recent released game. From a perspective of the Online aspect I can see it as a valid reference to go off of, but I guess since this is a different team making RDR2 than GTAV it's not as logical to criticize gameplay.

Let's also not forget that Leslie Benzies is gone, and Rockstar hasn't released anything but GTA Online DLC since 2013. So aside from the upcoming L.A. Noire Remaster, this will be the first game they push out since he left. His creative direction and influence was huge, so this is a big deal.

I am a long time Rockstar fan, so I sincerely hope they pull this off and give us what we want. Unfortunately, though, the way they handled GTA V post-launch has me a little worried.

I think this was in development before he left. I believe if Benzie did not leave we would have gotten single player DLC.

It's safe to expect online modes with RDR2 on the disc, but thankfully Rockstar remembers the value of the single player game too, otherwise they could've just made the entire game online only; which would not be good.

I never really got into GTA 5 online but I’ll give this a try after I beat the Campaign. I just haven’t decided to get this on Playstation or Xbox. Seeing how I got the first on Xbox 1. I may get it there. But I want to see what they are going to offer with Playstation sense they have an exclusive add on content deal with Rockstar.

They realize the importance of a good launch single-player, but I don't see us getting post launch single player DLC anymore.

Agreed, dlc for story from rockstar appears dead, which is wholly disappointing.

Hard to make SP DLC a “service” and sadly that’s where the money is made these days.

I bet they would still make a Ton of money making a GTA 5 or RDR2 single player DLC.

They would, indeed.

GTA V's main characters are incredibly well written, acted and (despite the fact that they're ruthless criminals) "humanized" in their ways. I've been wishing for story DLC that delves into their backstories ever since I finished the game for the first time. While the game does a good job with fleshing them out, I would have loved to play Franklin throughout his younger, gangbangin' days or Michael & Trevor during their time together.

That said, new characters would have been great. Frankly, I much preferred GTA IV's DLC characters and their (albeit much shorter) stories over Nico. It would have been awesome to have gotten something similar for GTA V.

Anyway, GTA Online is still immensely popular and a major cash cow for Rockstar and Take 2, but they know how many of us still love and cherish RDR. Hell, the game is damn near 8 years old and (due to XBone's BC) many people are only recently playing it for the first time, and loving every second of it.

They know what's at stake here, and we all know that they are very much aware of the fact that people have wanted GTA V Story DLC for years....so let's hope they give us something truly special in regards to a SP experience that's at least as big as GTA V is.

Honestly after thinking about it a story dlc for GTA 5 would kind of be hard. At the end you have to chose to kill Trevor or Michael or save them both. How would a dlc involveing any of them if someone killed the other one off work? It would be hard but unless they added a completely new character. I just hope the do a DLC like they did with the first game a Zombie one or something different.

That's probably true these days with RStar.

Thanks. We'll see if there are any console exclusive DLCs.

If they had a single player story DLC offline, and then allowed multiplayer to join in with that story online, it could work. You'd go on a mission and there would be a lot of online players causing trouble.

Though a lot of the missions became a bit repetitive in the main game with run here/run there in time, chase the enemies missions, the world itself is great and will look even better in this new sequel on PS4, with an expanded map.
