Hopefully Oppo and LG can figure out a solution. |

It does one weird thing when it starts the movie, like a gray screen, but I am not sure if that isnt because the menu is 4k/60 444 8 bit and it has to swap to 4k/24 444 10 bit.
Other than that I like it so far. Going to drink a few brews and watch Bourne UHD tonight to kick the tires. |

Samsung UHD player with my Oled C6 has a short audio delay when detecting HDR. So the audio kicks in immediately but the video takes a few seconds longer, and in the meantime screen defaults to the picture of the dog some of you are very familiar with

Any of you guys watched Suicide Squad in UHD/HDR?
The film was good. I was referring to PQ in UHD disc. I am not joking when I say that the regular bluray looked much better...More detalis, less black crush. Really did not feel like missing out anything in the regular bluray (plus the bluray contains the extended cut whereas HDR disc only comes with theatrical version). It was so bad that 20 minutes into the UHD movie both me and my wife both decided to give the bluray a shot because the low quality and black crush was that bad, and HDR effect was non-existent |

IMO, it wasnt great all around. Black level was mastered at a higher level, kinda like Star Trek Beyond. I guess because of all the dark scenes, but you don't get that same pop as movies mastered differently near black. Never noticed that stuff until I got an OLED.
This is the current problem, especially with HDR, some studios are using 1000 nits, some are using 4000 nits, some are mastering on LCD's... |

Also HDR was poorly used, as I can usually I spot a few nice hdr highlights here and there, but here the whole thing was dull all the way through |

Im not even using HDR UHD right now, not a fan. Waiting on Oppo to work out there HDR strip function. I watched Bourne using it and it works well, but has a color issue.

Here is what someone suggested doing for HDR UHD:
HDR STANDARD OLED LIGHT 100 CONTRAST 94 (To have the pure black while using Dynamic Contrast) BRIGHTNESS -> 48 SHARPNESS 17 COLOUR (Each panel has their own colour setting) TINT -> 0 (For tint when you're making colour calibration, change each colour tint on RGBCMY) BLACK LEVEL -> HIGH, ALWAYS, because i've discovered that even on RGB limited, Black Level low CRUSHES the blacks, this affects directly to the COLOUR CLIPPING, so the colous will clip between 700/900nits before, so the reason to LOW the BRIGHTNESS on RGB Limited is to gain back the same "Black level" but touching the brightness, not the Black level setting itself DYNAMIC CONTRAST -> LOW, it will clip the colours sooner, at 1200/1300nits instead 1600, but at least you'll have the entire grayscale ![]() TEMPERATURE WARM 2 NORMAL COLOR GAMUT The rest of the settings, since involves colour saturations, i can't help you with that because of a simple reason, as everyone knows each panel will have their own saturated colours, so.. In my case were Blue, Magenta and Red, that were too saturated that clipped 500 points before the rest of the colours, you'll need Masciola's HDR patterns for R/G/B Colour/tint calibration (MAKE SURE OF USE THE LUMINANCE SETTING FOR RGBCMY, not Saturation/Tint setting) |

Got the 55" C6 last Friday and it is amazing! Wasn't sure about the curve since multiple people would be watching and from varying angles, but noticed the curve wasn't crazy when I checked it out in person. Since I wanted to have passive 3D, like the LG LED this replaced, I didn't really want to go with the B6 at the same price.

Just bought a B6 with calibration & QC from Robert.
Selling off my old Samsung tomorrow. I decided not to wait for CES - what with a wedding on the way and a house to soon pay for, it was now or never for me. If I waited until Q3 or Q4 for CES products, the missus might've played merry hob with my plans. Can't wait for mid-January!!! |
