The only thing disappointing was that the preorder price didn't go down as much as I hoped for. We all know that since this underperformed at the theater that the UHD disc will soon be down in mid-teens Lucy territory.

Watched the UHD last night (arrived on Saturday while I was at SDCC). Overall I thought it looked very good. There were a couple of scenes that did have some incredible detail. In particular there was one shot of a close up of the geisha bot mask that was super sharp and detailed that really stood out. A few scenes seemed a bit darker than in the theater.

The in-laws enjoyed the movie more than I expected.

Can someone clarify if the code inside will be Ultraviolet? It says digital HD but says iTunes beside it with no UV symbol. I've been pissed off a few times with Logan specially coming with "DigitalHD" but not UV

If that's a shot which is also in the trailer, then I can imagine that since it already looked quite good in 1080p I think.

Guess I won't be importing the US version, still too expensive so I'll just have to wait a little longer till it gets released over here.

Those few dark scenes couldn't be any darker than what we saw in Suicide Squad [emoji16]

I think Target's 20% off Cartwheel deal is gonna push me into blind-buying. Will get the BD exclusive and the UHD for just over $40, after selling the codes and the extra BD/DVD, this should come out to something reasonable.

I just received my steelcase UHD version. I'm playing the movie through a Sony X800 on a Sony 75X940D. I have yet to actually sit down and watch the movie, which is something I plan on doing. With that said,my early impressions are that the disc looks good, but not mind blowing. There is a difference when compared to the 2K version, but I'd argue that it is marginal.

Again, I've only browsed a few scenes, but while I thought it looked very good, I did t feel like the picture quality had enough pop to it, or that the HDR had enough intensity and sheen. I guess I'm just spoiled by other ScarJo discs like Lucy. For what it's worth, I'm hearing that the 3D version is reference quality, which could be a big deal based on the way some of the scenes are said to play out. For example, Major breaking through the glass.

I just picked mine up, and that's about right. First of all, it wasn't in the regular section with all the videos. I had to look at the checkout aisle for new releases and even then, it was on the bottom shelf. They had lots of the Target exclusive. If that was a 4K, that would've been a no brainer. There were only about 3-4 copies. I was thinking of holding out for the 3D (ie, wait for a sale) but the 20% off plus my 5% target card came out to 23.45. A little more than what I would pay, but I took the dive.

Picked up the Best Buy steelbook. I guess this a minor thing overall, but something that really disappointed me. The 1995 cast from the original Ghost In The Shell did the Japanese dub and it's not included on this release.

Image looks great, if a little darker than I remember, but I'm noticing a lot more details. Sounds great too. Definitely gonna keep this one around for quick demos.

Not sure if my Best But experience is indicative of all of them, but there were only three 4K Steelbooks at mine at the moment of store opening (two now, *giggle*), which was less than half of what they had available for KONG: SKULL ISLAND a week ago. This one might do a quick disappearing act, folks.

Thanks for the info. Bummer about the Japanese dub. Was hoping to check that out. If the Japanese UBD gets both audio tracks and English subs, it might be worth importing.

Sorry, I think I came off as unclear. The 1995 cast from the original film came back and did all the voices for the Japanese dub of the 2017 film, meaning Atsuko Tanaka, the original Motoko Kusanagi, provides the voice for Scarlett Johansson's Mira Killian on the Japanese audio track. Probably only on the Japanese release? It has different cover artwork IIRC and even comes bundled with a copy of the original movie.

Picked up the UHD and Target exclusive. Target exclusive slipcover is probably the best artwork available, even though it's a BD slip I'm just gonna keep it over the UHD case with the bonus disc inside. Looking forward to watching this, but it'll probably be over the weekend.



EDIT: nvm gonna sell off the exclusive slip and make some money back from it. The UHD slipcover will be fine.
