I second the suggestion for war movie recommendations.

For the main 25 movie category I suggest franchises like the August 2015 movie challenge. This would be franchises with two or more movies.

I like these suggestions for some of them if we do regular categories

and I like these for recommendations (or regular categories) in addition to the aforementioned War.

I dont know if I would want to watch that many whole franchises. If we do regular categories maybe just make one category franchises? (I will probably be watching all the Transformers movies in June)

other category suggestions:
Creature Features
Car movies
Dark comedies
Sports movies

War movies for Recommendations and then Pride Month LGBT Movies/Characters as the optional featured title?

I'm cool with doing franchises. I've already been doing a couple this month.

I can't think of too many War movies I could recommend though that aren't the most obvious famous ones. I personally haven't seen "Patton, Platoon, or Hamburger Hill" so I'm sure people will recommend some I need to see.

I would skip Hamburger Hill lol

The more I think about it, I might have trouble recommending War films as well, since most I like are the standards everyone has seen. If we use that, I may have to get creative with the definition Same with LGBT if we use it - mine might just be movies that happen to have an LGBT character.

For franchises I was thinking you have to watch at least two movies from a franchise to be listed in the 25 movie main category. For instance you wouldn't have to watch all the Harry Potter or Star Wars movies, just a minimum of two so it's not so restrictive.

Yeah....I don't think it should be strictly movies about soldiers in battle. So movies like "Brothers"...."The Best Years of Our Lives"...."The War at Home".... etc. , that deal with the after effects of war on the soldiers lives when they come home could count.

It also doesn't need to be modern war - anything from Braveheart to Starship Troopers could count.

Lots of "non-war" war movies as well like "The English Patient" and "The Pianist" to consider. This can be a very broad category and doesn't need to be limited to combat movies.

Think any movie that takes place at wartime is fine. I like that the other recommendations cross genres. The Sci-Fi movies everyone recommended were Dramas, Comedies, Thrillers, Horror, etc. so we had tons to pick from.

Anything like these:
The Longest Day
Apocalypse Now
Canadian Bacon
Kelly's Heroes
Stripes
Pan's Labyrinth
Downfall
War of the Worlds
Enemy Mine
Braveheart
Sophie's Choice
The Pianist
Jacob the Liar

I like the idea of franchises. I love re-watching all in a series. Have never sat down to watch Battle for the Planet of the Apes without watching the first four. Don't think I could.

I've also been waiting to finally watch my Planet of the Apes blu-rays, so franchises are fine with me. Also cool with the War featured category.

Would the Monster Universe count as a franchise? Just thought about that since The Mummy comes out next month.

Despicable Me/Minions is another one. I may hold off watching Pirates 5 until June so I can binge them all too.

that's why I had suggested creature features as a category next month, but I'm sure you could count them as a franchise as well if we do that
