The PS5 is a dream. Fantastic visuals, excellent haptic feedback controller (couldn’t go back to normal controller now), games catalogue which has saved me a fortune and a perfect back up/bedroom Blu-Ray/UHD player. What’s not to like?

I finally got that game this past spring or so when it was digitally on sale for 4.99 or so. Normally, it was 49.99 for the longest time ever, for years.

Sort of interesting game though I have too many games that are more entertaining at the moment, but I'll get back to it eventually.

Good to hear you're enjoying PS5. It's been reliable as a console so far, especially the controller, despite the interface issues with the PS Store and Menu features not working right for some things.

4K 60 fps is a nice improvement to making a game world seem more immersive. PSVR2 would be the next step with tracking and stereo 3D, though I don't think I'm going to be able to get past the limit of VR games that I can play without feeling sick from too fast of motion in VR.

That's cool you don't get any motion sickness.
Are you going to buy PSVR2 on day 1?
I'm going to hold off until I see some must have games.

RE8 sounds like it has good improvements over the PC VR fan made mod.

LOL you have 0 concept of how VR works. This is a completely different tracking system. Why would 1 assume that PSVR and VR2 would be BC. Thats like assuming MS VR immersive room would work with PS4/5 instead of Xbox.

100% agree. I was day one first gen and own 200 VR games but I wouldn’t expect a next gen headset to hamstring itself with BC.

Sound like he just wants to have a go at Sony/consoles.

Light tracking vs eye tracking requires a complete rewrite of the VR tracking on PSVR games. Do they patch them down the road maybe but at least there being honest from the get go saying it will not work initially.

This intense reaction to the BC announcement really is weird considering that it was completely obvious that it was technically impossible for it to be BC once the specs were announced. I get that people would be disappointed, but this disappointment should have been felt, expressed, and fully processed months ago.

Okay, cool, thanks. The VR tracking of the PSVR2 for Moss Upgraded to PSVR2 especially will be so much better than the floating tracking of PSVR1. I'm trying to use the orb to open an item, and the orb instead floats off into the distance. The camera's view range seems so tiny at times, so PSVR2 tracking directly with the headset itself instead of a camera will be a big advantage.

Yeah, that plus the improved visuals and controls should be sweet.

It’s even more weird that some people who didn’t even buy first gen are making the biggest noise.

The biggest complaint was always not jumping in until the visuals are improved. Now, it’s no BC, no purchase!

No release date at the end of the promo PSVR2 video from Sony, but interesting they're showing it off so soon before release in Spring 2023.

We knew long ago that developers would have to update their PSVR games if they wanted them to be compatible with PSVR2. The tracking architecture is totally different.

Not sure why this is such a big surprise.

The good news is I hear that Sony or someone mentioned 150 PSVR games are getting ported and upgraded to PS5's PSVR2.

Including Astrobot Missions and Moss, with free upgrades apparently, potentially through Sony paying the developers to adapt the games to the new set up and improve resolution.

Sony has probably written a tool that automatically ports the code. The developer then has the test the game. I don't think it would be difficult to make an API that uses the tracking of the PSVR2 and maps it to the old tracking of the PSVR. But, I could be wrong.

That could be it. Then the developer just adjusts whatever they feel is needed.
Resolution, that would require that the original game was built with a higher resolution than the PSVR version of the game. Like with Xing, that game has a 2D version included with a much better resolution than the PSVR version.

150 games, that seems like a lot to port over but if they have a number like that (rumored), then that would be impressive.

I don't know how many PSVR games there are in total. Maybe 500?

They need to Port over Hitman 3 PSVR. I haven't tried it since launch, but the aiming was broken and awful in that PSVR game. The regular PS5 version, the aiming works great. They hopefully switched the aiming back to the controller analogs instead of trying to aim with the light bar of all things.

so what are the rumors, if any, for pre-orders to go live ? FOMO is real, don't want to wait months or a year past release to be able to have one.

•Resident Evil VII: Biohazard

A pretty good list there. I also really hope they do these:

Wanderer

Blair Witch
The Walking Dead
Down the Rabbit Hole
Golem
Groundhog Day
Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot
The Inpatient
Farpoint
Superhot
Batman

If they do all those (and some may be unlikely), I have no reason to keep the original PSVR hooked up, or at all. The other VR games I've played I don't care about.

PSVR2 will likely be released in Spring (May 2023 is my guess), so probably by November pre-orders could start appearing, but maybe sooner. I'm guessing Sony will do another one of those Showcase videos and then at the end, say "Pre-order...... NOW!" But as soon as the video starts, that's when to start looking for pre-orders for those interested.

I'm going to wait this one out, as I need some must-have titles to make it worth investing in beyond just the general VR improvements. Once I see a solid list of new games I must play, then I'll get it on sale. PSVR1, I got for 199.99 new in December 2017, which looking back, was the only time that console ever sold that low brand new. Now they go for almost $400 for a PSVR and $300 for a used one.

Moss and Astrobot are my two favorites, so that's good news. But yeah, those others and the better selling PSVR games hopefully get upgraded too.

PSVR1, I'll keep for the sake of the occasional blu ray 3D movie to watch if I get a PSVR2 eventually.

Moss 1 & 2
Astrobot
Half-Life Alyx
3D BD playback

Then, I will be happy with the PSVR2. Make it happen Sony.

Maybe Avatar 2 will push the need for 3D at home again.
