So, this still doesn't include the nearly hour of deleted scenes?

Quote:
The original cut of the movie was a lengthy 175 minutes and more than an hour was dropped; the deleted scenes included:

a John Landis cameo as a cafeteria dishwasher who tries to stop Bluto from eating all the food. Landis is dragged across a table and thrown to the floor by Bluto who then says "You don't **** with the eagles unless you know how to fly."
a scene where Boon and Hoover tell Pinto the tales of legendary Delta House frat brothers from years before who had names like Tarantula, Bulldozer, Giraffe, and his girlfriend, Gross Kay.
two different deleted scenes with Otter and a couple of his girlfriends (one played by Sunny Johnson—listed in the credits as "Otter's Co-Ed" although her scene was deleted—and the other played by location scout Katherine Wilson, whose deleted scene can be seen in the theatrical trailer).
an extended version of the scene where Bluto pours mustard on himself and starts singing "I am the Mustard Man."

Since Criterion did release Fast Times and Dazed & Confused (both Universal titles).. is there any chance they might eventually do a release of Animal House?

There is a great German release in 4k with the original mono audio and that great 90 minute documentary, Inside Story.. now I would just prefer a stateside release by Criterion rather than a German import but that's just me.

I doubt it. The Universal disc's only real flaw was the lack of a mono track. It's also a disc that is frequently really cheap at Gruv and Amazon sales, so a ton of people already have it on 4K now. I can definitely see Fast Times at Ridgemont High getting a 4K upgrade though, as Criterion already have special features for it, and it currenly has no 4K version available.

I wouldn't object, but I'm happy with the German disc with the mono audio and Dolby Vision.

Good luck with that. I have haunted trade shows, studios and reps, pop culture conventions and even extreme boot dealers since about 1983 looking for any sign of the footage you mentioned. I even spoke at length with John Landis in the mid-1990s at an appearance in Las Vegas about this. I have pretty much given up at this point, but I know that the scenes you listed were definitely filmed. Current existence, though? It looks bleak. No one seems to know what happened to the footage.

I found it on eBay. I had to search for "Ich glaub mich tritt ein Pferd."

What's the deal on the DVDs? 1998 and then a remastered one from like 2003 with additional 5.1, both have mono. That UHD looks nice but $55 is too pricey right now. I think I may pass on the Uni UHD till I can get the German.
