It's a ways down on my favorites as an entire horror franchise but it's absolutely pretty damn solid and I enjoy all 4 quite a bit with 4 especially surprising me the first time I watched it and again last year when it had been awhile.

I'd love a complete 4k boxset obviously but as long as the 1st gets an actual really well done 4k release i'd be ecstatic personally. I have no doubt the others will get at minimum 4k digital releases once 5 comes out which I can live with and will hopefully still be solid upgrades over the very mediocre current bluray set.

Kind of like how the original Omen was the only film in the Scream Factory set that received a fresh scan.
I personally thought Scream 2 and Omen 2 are more enjoyable than the original. Scream 2 has better suspense and chase scenes. Most of the time in the first Scream the killer just pops out and kills the victim within 20 seconds. Really enjoyed the parts of Randy talking to the killer on the phone while trying to hunt him down, Sidney trying to move past the unconscious killer in the car and the Ghostface chasing and hiding while pursuing Gale. I hope the new Scream has similar parts.

Do you guys think there will be a Scream 6 in the next few years?

And you think indy has made more money than the entire Trek franchise put together? Lol no

Do you mean the TV shows as well? Doesn’t CBS have the shows while Paramount has the movies? They’re now owned by the same people again but it wasn’t always the case.

You’re right that Trek is a behemoth of a franchise when taken as a rather messy whole but it never quite caught on with theatrical audiences particularly overseas, recent JJprise reboots aside.

And for theatrical box office alone Trek has accumulated $2.2 billion worldwide across 13 films in 42 years (half of that coming from the JJ trilogy), Indy has taken $1.9 billion across 4 films in 40 years. It will breeze past Trek when Indy V gets released but then Paramount don’t have that one, Disney do.

Even without that I’d consider Indy to be just as ‘important’ a movie franchise to Paramount as Trek. Though if we’re talking box office then Transformerz beats them both with almost $5 billion in global takings…

The cafeteria singing scene makes me cringe every time as well. I tend to fast forward through that scene.

Also not a huge fan of the finale location on the stage set. Everything else is fantastic though and part 2 probably has the best red herrings.
I love everything you mentioned

As for the other parts, maybe they're waiting for Scream 2's 25th Anniversary, which is next year? I could live with Scream 3 not getting any type of remaster, BD or UHD (or, to be honest, even without watching it ever again), but Scream 2 is a must.

That’s not quite fair. The strong implication here is that we’re talking movie series, not TV, toys, comics, et al. As a movie series, as Geoff also pointed out, Indy crushes TREK (and as a lifelong Trekker, whose love for the show and it’s spin-offs has only cooled recently by stuff in my personal life that has driven my faith in Roddenberry’s vision of the future out of me wholly, it hurts to have to say that). TREK has had to run back to TV, where it started, to regain its healthy mojo (a move I’ve been eager to see for years), whereas Indy blossoms on the big screen.

Yeah, count me in as someone who only cares about the first Scream in 4K, preferably uncut.

I was going to say transformers also.

And the word was franchise, more in the franchise had sold and been made for Trek than Jones

I think if you accept that the poster you were responding to was implying (if not outright clarifying, I grant) flagship film franchise, listing Indians Jones makes complete sense.

I would argue Indians Jones is every bit to action-adventure cinema what STAR TREK is to sci-fi. They’re both wonderful adventures with wonderful characters all wonderfully realized.

Does Disney own the Scream franchise at that point? Or is it the other company, Amazon?

Lionsgate actually owns or has distribution deals with more production companies than Disney and Amazon.

The first three films are still owned by Miramax, which has changed hands twice in the last 15 years. Paramount currently has the distribution rights and a 49% interest in Miramax. Not sure what the rights situation is with the fourth movie, though. Disney hasn't owned anything with Dimension or Miramax titles since about 2005.
