Is there even any point in owning the remastered 2k blu-rays if you already have the 4k versions? Why would you want both? Isn't that superfluous?

I wonder if Jackson will chime in. This set is getting pretty much no love from the fans.

What?!

I’ll have you know, to celebrate this set’s upcoming release, I just went ahead and bought the bookshelf collection from 2016, haha. And let me tell ya, it was a right steal!

Thanks for the push I needed, Warner!

Well that is a "little" better with added ring instead of more cards. Bring on more versions!

I already have the ring from the set that was released last year.

My excitement level went from 100 to 0. This does not seem to be an ultimate collection to be honest. I would have paid a bit more if they had included the bonus discs from the previous box sets, as there were hours and hours of bonus features, which I love watching. Guess I have to keep that set as well.

Technically yes, it would be. Only reason I would is because I never know if my folks might want to watch the films and they only have Blu ray, or in the event you only have one UHD player in the house. Hell not all of my friends have UHD players or TVs. It helps in case I need to loan, but that's once in a while sort of deal though.(then there's that one jackass who still uses DVD, ew)

I can only imagine how the Remastered BDs will fair, my guess is similar to how The Matrix remasters were on BD, I would know cause I watched the films on those remastered Blus prior to upgrading. Nevermind the talk about that in these forums.

Part of me wonders if any further special features will appear exclusively on HBO Max to push subscribers. Imagine the sudden increase in subscribers if exclusive deleted scenes and documentaries suddenly appeared.

No one should be expected to work for free, it's obvious that Jackson loves his films and would like to see the most complete versions but asking him to spend weeks and maybe months working for free for WB is ridiculous.

Snyder chose to work for free but I imagine he's getting something on the backend, if not you could argue that Snyder was paid for the film originally and never completed it, yes it was under tragic circumstances but it may have been the case that they didn't want to pay him twice for the same thing.

I'm disappointed that this UE is not all that ultimate but at the same time would much prefer Jackson work on his Tintin film than work for free so as to make WB millions in profits.

Yep, probably because of absence of digital version of the movies.

Oh ! good catch, did'nt see the Absence of Digital Codes !

I didn't buy the previous set waiting for this one, but im not really sure now, looking at the price tag and the contents, i dont really see much addition

I was fortunate enough local theaters here had a re-run of LOTR few months ago, so i could calm the urge of buying.

Can anyone convince me to buy the ultimate collection lol ?

I was holding off for this UE but going to grab the existing 4K releases of both in the next Amazon Germany 3 for 2 offer. It's a shame that this release is so disappointing as so much was promised and the end result is just meh.

If you have the extras already by the extended trilogy bluray sets grab the 4k steel books, somehow they're still in stock.

Well, you do get the commentaries on the standard blus (they're not on the 4K discs).

If you want a "One Ring" that badly, they aren't hard to find. I got one last year for like $20. You can get a Chinese knock off for like $1.49 if you don't care about such things.

That's a really good point, thank you. And someone mentioned loaning. I think I'll save money and just buy the standard 4k release and the older blus, since they also have the commentaries. And even though they're not the lastest "remastered," they will have a different feel from the 4k which could be nice; just wouldn't be able to have Atmos with the commentaries without the new ones I guess.
