If only Fincher could find it in his heart to get some people to make a final cut of Alien 3 and redo some effects to make the creatures actually appear realistic in the scenes that need it. It's actually an incredibly solid film, it just needs some help. I feel like they could make it happen.

I think it's really the compositing that kills a lot of the effects shots, but I'm not sure what the remaining elements are or if it could be fixed. (Regardless, I always thought whoever was responsible for those particular shots should've been fired. I mean, they're so bad that people still keep calling it CGI - even all these years later. )

I am keeping my safely stored.

My copy has a lot of sentimental value to me, both for the film and that it was a gift from a dear friend; who passed away under tragic circumstances earlier this year.

I hope that the new fangled DNR JC has deployed on his catalog exhibits minimal obnoxious visual artifacts, especially less problematic than T2 4k.

Anyhow, looking forward to Aliens but the question is can I be patient and wait till next year or submit to fomo and double-dip on the digital release.

Apparently physical media is only dead in Australia

I've said it before - this has the potential to revitalize physical media. Sure, people can stream these films but a lot of fervent collectors have been waiting YEARS for them. Not everybody has access to high speed internet and we're talking about a worldwide audience. If Disney opens their vaults further these boards will be a mad flurry of activity. We'll see

No I mean the 5.1 is dropped from the 4K disc, as in not included, whereas it is included on digital. Just curious why it’s Atmos and 2.0 only on disc.

Aliens has been number one on my 4K wishlist for a long time. I couldn't be happier that it's finally arriving. It's probably my favorite action film of all time.
