I watched Daredevil last night and while the whole film isn't consistent enough to be reference material, it's best is probably some of the best audio I've heard. Surround presence was incredible when he's first experiencing his heightened hearing. The video on the other hand...

Watch Casino Royale and QOS back to back and tell me if you still think QOS is a 10 at that point I watched both these back to back and Casino Royale I would rate a 9.5 and QOS a 8.5 as far as audio.......Casino Royale is clearly the better track.

Really? I thought the Watchmen track was great, but definately not the best I have listened to on my system. It would not even make my top 10 as far as BR audio "WOW" discs.

Knowing isn't as bad as many people are making it out to be. I think it automatically gets a lot of hate just because Nicolas Cage is in it.

Almost missed this post. Will definately rent or buy the DVD cheap, if I like it, I'll bring it back, say I thought it was a blu ray then pay the extra. Nah I'm not stupid, I'll never watch DVD. I'll rent the Blu.

As someone who's done this, I'd rate Casino Royale 8.5 and Quantum of Solace a 10. The former was simply loud for loudness sake. The latter had quality audio in addition to being loud.

I would have to say that Master and Comander: the far side of the world has my top vote, the cannons and wood splintering is great.

I will grant you that. I think Casino is an amazing track. While i'll state that there was a bit more presence in QOS, I found more detail in CR, even though it was 16bit compared to QOS's 24bit.

Almost makes you wonder what Casino Royale would sound like in 24bit.

I disagree, but its all subjective and I respect your opinion. QOS was a bit weak/flat overall IMO (besides the skydive which was great!) and Casino Royale was solid from start to finish. No way is QOS even close to a 10 in the overall realm of BR movie audio.

I agree that CR definately had more detail. I would be curious to hear a 24bit CR to hear if there is any noticable dif or not.

I was just reading up on Master and Commander and how the audio made for that movie used no old sources or canned sounds of any type and won awards, the review here gives it a perfect 5 rating. I think I may have a reason to pick the movie up, I've become quite appreciative of HD audio since I finally splurged on a decent HD capable surround setup a couple of months ago.

Anyways, whenever I want to test audio, I always pop in 3:10 to Yuma.

DOOM staring the rock, loud with amazing gun shots and loud clean dialogue.

I actually just watched this today and the audio is incredible. Very atmospheric and directional with deep rich powerful bass. The first person sequence is definite demo material.

Underrated flick too, IMO.

As I learn so much here i see there is more than LFE and Gunshots. Dont get me wrong I love them. But I also love a great score from John Williams.

Like the 2 channel music enthusiast who loves the subtlety of a string section coupled with the U571/M&C/Hulk Soundtrack buffs, I am looking for the best of both worlds.

To me a great AQ has to include a great Musical Score. Like Howard Shore. Make sense?
