Hello,
Guys I live in UAE and we have like 2 or 3 Denon branches only.
I went to their main branch and they told me they have a promotion for a home theater system.
It has AV receiver 1312 with Boston Acoustics. It has 2 big speakers, 2 small, one subwoofer and the AV receiver.
It's around $1098 with installation in my room.
Is it a good offer?
Because If I bought it online maybe it would cost me more because of the taxes, shipping charges and that stuff.
And I wanna ask you if it's worth it or not!
for more info about the speakers they gave me this card....

Default Denon avr 989 help

Just did the audyssey calibration from all 8 positions. When I went to store the settings, it is not completing/finishing. It's been about 15 minutes. The receiver even went to it's screen saver it is taking so long. From the screen saver the buttons used for navigation during set-up no longer work.
Anyone have this problem before?
With all this time waiting, I looked at the owner's manual, and said do not turn the power off while storing. But that seems like the only option at this point

Default 5308 $1k upgrade anybody?

Anybody here have a Denon AVR-5308CI or AVP-A1HDCI(A) and got the $1k hardware/firmware upgrade to add 1.4 HDMI for 3D and the enhanced Audyessy stuff? http://usa.denon.com/us/downloads/pages/product-updates.aspx

I just added a 3D PJ to the home theater and my 5308 is not liking the 1.4 HDMI, so I swapped the 5308 with an Onkyo TX-NR818 from the family room that supports 1.4 HDMI (but no 3D in that room). I am on the fence whether I should keep it this way, or spend the $1k to update my 5308 and put it back in my home theater. Just wondering if anybody else has done this update and what they have to say about it. I have Googled some mixed reviews, but realistically you are only going to find the negative stuff posted, so who knows how happy customers did it. $1k seems a bit steep to me, more than what I paid for the Onkyo in the first place.

It's funny you should mention this. I have the AVP and it's in the shop getting the upgrade as I type this. For me, upgrading the AVP makes sense. There's nothing out there right now that has the features, build quality and price of the AVP. Check out the AVP thread over at AVS. Not one single negative post about the upgrade. IMHO, an upgraded 5308 is superior to the NR818. But hey, to each their own.

Keep in mind, the AVP and 5308 are the Denon flagship processor and receiver.

$1k? I thought it was more.

When I saw how much it was going to cost to upgrade, I sold the 5308 for $3,000.00 and purchase the 4311 for around $1300.00 and now very happy.

The new Denon 4520 is on its way, maybe the money is better put towards that?

Denon Offers New Flagship 9.2 Channel AVR-4520CI Home Theater Receiver
If you have a serious home theater setup, you're going to need a receiver to match it -- as well as handle it. At this week's CEDIA Expo, Denon announced such a component, the 9.2-channel AVR-4520CI AV receiver.

Launched as the flagship model for Denon's In-Command series, the AVR-4520CI includes a lot of the perks that you'd want to see in a new component, including 150 watts per channel, 4K and 3D support, seven HDMI inputs, three HDMI outputs, and a front-panel USB port. It also has web connectivity and support for Apple's AirPlay, so you can stream all of your stored iTunes music, as well as services such as Pandora, from an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac or PC.

There are also plenty of niceties, like the slick front-panel design, larger character displays, better graphics and a newly designed GUI interface. Also, Denon just announced plans to partner with Spotify, so Spotify Premium subscribers can tap into the service via the AVR-4520CI, without the need for a portable or a PC.

This receiver includes Denon's exclusive Dynamic Discrete Surround Circuit (DDSC-HD32) technology, which uses chips over 32-bit DSP processors. It also has 11.2-channel processing capability, via dts Neo:X.

Designed for single or multiroom AV distribution, the AVR-4520CI also has the Audyssey MultEQ XT32 Auto Setup and Calibration, Audyssey Sub EQ HT, and Audyssey LFC processing. Besides web access, this receiver also has RS-232 and IP control for third-party
controllers and is Control4 certified.

"When Denon created our new flagship AV receiver, we wanted to present a component that would truly epitomize our corporate principle that 'Performance is Everything'. To achieve this goal, we needed to craft a receiver that would not only deliver the leading-edge audio capabilities for which Denon is renowned, but also provide our customers with the very latest in advanced connectivity to all their favorite entertainment sources," said Yoshinori Yamada, D+M's product planning manager. "With the very latest audio and video processing technologies, the AVR-4520CI delivers performance on par with much more expensive separate components, and includes a host of networking features designed to harmonize with portable devices as well as provide compatibility with major brands of home automation and custom integration system controllers."

Amazon is currently taking pre-orders for the 9.2-channel AVR-4520CI receiver, but Denon says they will deliver sometime this month. Expect an MSRP of $2499.99.

the 4520 looks to be a tad bit week in current draw for a "flag ship model" only 780 watts. They should have just dropped the amp section and made a middle ground Preamp/processor for $2000 or less. Just my opinion as I would like to go with pre/pro but can't afford one as they are way to expensive.

Guys, I just got a Denon 1913, my first audio hd receiver, and I wasn't disappointed at all when I put in Fight Club. I have a quick question I'm hoping someone may know about. When I am listening to the SiriusXm built in app after a bit of time, for some reason, the system changes the channel up one. Has anyone seen or heard about this and know the cause/setting I need to change?
Thanks in advance!

Edit....I suspect the ethernet cable I'm using is going bad. I'll see if that fixes it.

Yesterday I picked up a Denon AVR-1912 from Best Buy. It was open box with no accessories for $158. I did some research and found I could use my setup mic from the onkyo 507 I have, also I have a harmony remote so that wasnt a problem. Set it up today and ran audyssey but only from 4 positions. I am amazed at the difference in sound quality over my onkyo 507. I also like the fact I can see the menus and volume on my tv instead of just the reciever, that drove me crazy with the 507. Tomorrow I'm going to rerun audyssey using all 8 positions. So far I'm really happy with the Denon.

Use all 8. Chris, founder of Audyssey, sent me this note...

Jim

We spent nearly 6 years of university research in my lab at USC to show how critical it is to measure in multiple positions. Measuring in 1 or 2 points can often make the sound worse than before because not enough information about the acoustical problems is collected.
It's wrong to think of the measurement points as "one per seat". They are there to collect information and how the problems vary spatially. This is particularly important for low frequencies whose response varies significantly in different spots.
It's also wrong to think that there is a compromise in the main position by adding other spots. That was a key finding: the optimum response in the main position is achieved when you measure in multiple spots around it.

Best regards,
Chris Kyriakakis
Founder and CTO, Audyssey

need some advice on the denon avr 1912. I'm looking to buy my first HD receiver and have narrowed it down to the pioneer vsx 1122 or the denon avr 1913. My budget is around the $500 range. My setup is an apartment which will then be used in a bedroom or some room in my future house. I will then start from scratch on a more involved home theater.

I've been researching a bit and like the pros of each and understand that there is a little bit about each that aren't so great. Today at Best Buy they had the AVR-1912 as an open box item for $158.99. Down considerably from the $450 for the pioneer or 1913. I've never bought an open box item from anywhere, I'm usually the type to like my electronics fresh and never pre-owned or anything like that. But for this price it peaked my interest. CNET gave it editor's choice for 2011 and even prefers it to the 1913.

I'm basically looking for opinions on my 3 choices as well as opinions of open box items from Best Buy. Thanks for your help!

they also had a pair of polk tsi400's open box for 89.99 each..

I've had my Denon AVR-1612 now for a week, took a little time to get used to it but man I'm glad I picked this one, not too over the top and not too basic just perfect for the bedroom.

At first I thought the ipod port was a meh feature but I like it since I haven't got around to replacing the head unit in my car so a lot of music I haven't heard in over a year.

Default Just swapped for a Denon

I was having handshaking issues with my pio 1122 so swapped at my local bob for the denon 1913 ran auddessey three times it set my fronts a center to large and rears to 40 hz so I changed them all to small and 80 hz. Is there anything else I can do to help with calibrating and making it sound better? It seems to me that the pioneer may have been louder I know they have the same wattage. I do notice a difference in each receiver. I definitely like the Denon I just want to get the best out of it. Thanks for the input.

1. Do you have a subwoofer?
2. What speakers do you have?
