I know what you mean. I throw some out from time to time when people are shopping price more than anything else, but you're absolutely right about hearing them for yourself.

They look beautiful, makes me feel good about purchasing the older ones I got yesterday. I have a lot to learn about Paradigm, but I will enjoy doing it.

Allentown huh? I live in Lancaster and the guy I bought my Paradigms from yesterday was from Breinigsville. Anyway, I love their sound, and I will probably be a Paradigm owner for some time. The build you did looked like you did some really good work. Your speakers look awesome, and I'm sure they sound better than they look, which says a lot. Great job gatomalo!

You need to start a gallery so we can rate your HT!

Thx Fors, Ah, lancaster, beautiful countryside! Breinigsville is up the road from me...wow, this is cool! I took some pics with the nikon d90 and for some reason the file is to large to upload into the gallery...I would have to butI don't want to go through the trouble of downloading some mission impossible software just to process these pics...maybe later...

Nice setup man! You don't need any special software to shrink the pictures. You can even resize it in paint by percentage... maybe 20-30% if your files are that big. Only takes a few seconds and just save it as a different name so it doesn't take over the original file.

I was very close to getting a pair of energy rc-30s when i found a paradigm dealer a couple blocks from me. Who knew? Any way i listened to moniter 9s. I was there for a couple hours listening to music and that i took along. They sounded great with every thing from the pogues to the roots to tom waits. Any one here have experience with energy and paradigm that can help make up my mind? Also he said he can give me a better deal then the 1000 list price. What kind of discount should i be looking at? thanks

Thanks man! I just posted in this thread [Need advice: Acoustic Panel Placement w/pics] and there might be answers and links for you to look into there. Glad you're thinking about acoustic treatments - it's one very important factor that most people forget about when setting up a listening room!

I have another question for you all...avr is 140wpc, with the studio 100's or similar speakers...is it necessary to power them up with an amp? There's a reason why i'm asking! I don't want to down these speakers cause they are beautiful but I'm getting to the point of a little unfullfilled! Someone out there with a similar setup? would appreciate any suggestions!!

The 140wpc is plenty to run the 100's, I was running my old Pio 140wpc with my 60's and they sounded great - I switched to the Marantz 80wpc and they sounded better then I added the Rotels amps to my 60's and they just opened right up - moral of the story while the reciever has sufficient power to run the amps, but like "Tim the Toolman" says, mo'r power is better... Add an amp and you will definitely notice a difference

Well, I am pretty excited. My beloved CC-570 v.3 center channel speaker is being replaced with a brand new piano black CC-690 v.5 speaker next week. I really didn't want to upgrade this soon, but my local dealer cut me a pretty good deal on the CC-690 and I couldn't say no.

So now I have to sell my CC-570!

Congrats phansson. I have seen pics of the 690 and that thing is a beast and I bet and know it sounds amazing. I wish I had the room to fit a bigger center but I have the 370 like the one Fors just purchased and it does the job for me. Just need to get more power to it and the fronts with an amp and it will sound even better than it does now. Good luck in selling the 570. I don't think you will have a hard time find any takers for it.

Default Upgrade planning time...Studio100s or Studio60

I think in the long run I will want to Studio 100s, but just some simple opinions from you other owners out there who may have had to make the decision before.

I have the Sub12. And I have the rest of the system planned out: CC690 and ADP590s. But my dilema is the 60s or the 100s.

Later.

I have the 60's, CC-690, ADP590's, 20's and a Sub12 so I'm interested in that question also to see if it would be worth upgrading in the future to 100's. What I've heard up to now though and I don't know if it's true, is that the 100's are good if you do a lot of 2-channel listening. But if you only do HT, the 60's are good enough. But that's just what I read around some boards.

What do you have to power the 60's or 100's?

My setup consists of a NAD T175 pre/pro, and M25 7 x 160 power amp.

Power is not an issue obviously. The M25 is a beast, and I can biamp if needed.

Here are a couple of dilemas with this decision. I have the money for the Studio 60s, but in the long run I will/would want the Studio 100s, but the cost quite a bit more. So if I save a little longer I can get the 100s.

But getting the 100s poses another issue (one that is probably solvable), in that, at night when my wife goes to bed, I turn off my Sub12 via the T175, and set my mains to large. Right now, my mains are a DIY tower with ok bass, but I think the 100s would provide enough bottom end, that I would be getting the "honey, I thought i asked you to turn the sub off".

Decisions, decisions.
