Oh I know! I'll probably wait till next month to get that. I'll just tell the wife that it is the ultimate last thing I need for the HT. Honestly it really is. I saw us-appliance had the denon 790 for $408 shipped.

For now I just watch a movie and just imagine how much better that action scene could have been with a new receiver!

Yeah, right. I said that too. Then looking at my Yamaha AVR's pre-outs, I thought, wow, external power amps would give me cleaner sound, less distortion, and more power output. Now I got power amps. Later, I upgraded from a 42" LCD TV to a 52" Sony Bravia. And just recently, I added another identical subwoofer to my system to help smooth out the bass across the listening area. Now, I wonder what the next ultimate last thing will be. I know it's out there.

Congrats on your C-50s! They are fine surround speakers.

yeah, unfrotunately there is no real end to the upgrades, like right now I want a new TV stand, then I want a new TV, then a new Receiver, then a power amp.......

congrats on the C-50s, they are good speakers, I like the one I have.

Hehe I knew it was on your list that's why I braught it up 408$ for this receiver, you can't go wrong. After all Denon is part of the same company as Marantz as many people already know

i've had a hsu stf-2 and now an eD a2-300; i can wholeheartedly recommend either of those for around $350. also the pa-120 seems to be a good performer for around $250. acoustic audio subs can be had for under $200.

if budget is no concern i'd go for a hsu vtf2 mk3 or vtf3 mk3; maybe an svs pb-12nsd...

Slayer tell us with how much aussie dollars you're working with but Energy are good in subs may not be the best suited for home theater but if you like music also the bass is tight and very acurate. The ESW-V10 is performing really well all around. It's a Veritas after all.

If you can put your hands on an S10.3 for under 350 Aussie $ I'd say go for it.

If you really like something monstreously performant for HT and pretty good with music from what I hear on this forum the Elemental Design a2-300 as mentioned by our friend Arrt here is quite something. This thing is a real beast, it's around 33Kg 12 incher extending as low as 18hz at +/-3db.

I did not have a chance audition the ED unfortunately but at 350$ US it a deal now I dunno about shipping in Australia since I beleive they only sell online.

Slay, isn't your sub A truly good sub?

What is your motivation in getting another sub?

malam, I think that would sound great. I did the same thing with the RC-LCR's and the sound is excellent. I say go for it!

In the other thread I was just referring to the fact that the V10 is more powerful and I'm right 300watts tahn 200watts is more powerful. Does not mean more air displacement

Now my S10.3 is still an amazing sub and I still cannot compare with A2-300 yet my friend.
Honestly I was trying to help the guy getting a system for the budget he suggested period and in this case here helping a fellow Energy speaker owner getting a good complement to his system.

I don't want you to become sarcastic about it and I don't intend to either.

My choice of Energy is well suited for the really small budget I was working with my friend. Trust me I would Get something else if budget was allowing me. I firmly beleive that I myself got a tremendous deal. A 7.1 setup for 750$ my friend is hell of deal for what I have.
You'll note that I deleted my post, because I realized after pressing the submit button, that our discussion in the other thread was concerning Bose...not matching componants. For that error I shall apologize. I would have thought that as a result I wouldn't be quoted, in kind.

As far as sarcasm is concerned , I can do quite well without the "my friend" insertions in your text. I have no intention of taking this discussion any further in a open forum, although you are welcome to post a reply via PM.

Sincerely,

John

hahahah Thanks guys. I'm looking forward to putting an end to the Sony speakers and having the complete set of Energy's.
I'm not sure if the Denon has pre-outs for an external amp which is probably a good thing for me! Because I would convince myself that an external amp is just what I need.

I'll probably post some pictures when they get in like I always do. I just hope my current metal stands can support them. Guess I'll find out

Yeah it is a good sub just had a bit of extra cash & thought might get a new sub now & one that can match with what I have now hopefully with that black mirror finish, don't know how many improvements they have made with subs these days as my one is quite old now

it just has the sub out and multi-zone outputs. You could not hook up an external amp.

I just wonder what is still available to you in terms of Energy Subwoofers

S-10.3 in discontinued and used a black Ash finish, ESW-V10-series would match the Piano Blcack tha you have on the rest of your setup.

I told ya to stay away from the ESW-C and I mean it as they don't go low enough for HT even if they sound quite accurate for music they would be a downgrade from what you already have.

That looks so nice BigAl87, I wonder how this sub stacks up to the Sunfire High Resolution Series Subwoofer - HRS-10, this sub also has the same finish

Sunfire truly looks like a beast I did not auditioned it but honestly put down impressive numbers.

1000 watts and 20-100hz frequency response for a 10 this amazing.

The Energy sounds good and accurate, is 300watts and has a frequency response of 23-120hz. Not to bad for 10 inch but again I was wondering how much budget you had. As for displacement and SPL I dunno power is not always the best indicator. Considering Peak-toPeak excursion I would think that Sunfire moves more air. Energy is not bad with 1.6 inches acheived with the ribbed surround but the Sunfire has a 2 inches peak to peak with it's big fat surround suspension

I would truly suggest to audition them but from the number I see I would lean towards the Sunfire considering it's fairly low price. I think alot of posters on this forum like the Sunfire.
