I'd like to think so, but I'd also hate to wait and have some with slipboxes and some without (or miss the slipboxes entirely). I'm going to buy for now, and if they get the rights to the back half and put out a full set, I'd happily sell my individual copies and buy the full 4K set.

How is the service from Diabolik? Do they pack the Blu-Rays well?
I've bought Blu-Rays from Amazon without any packing material in the boxes. They just throw them in a box. Since these Halloween movies are $28.99 at Diabolik I'm considering pre-ordering them there. |

If there is one more movie in this new film trilogy, you can bet another superset will be due around that time. These new editions seem targeted at people that will probably pick up one or two, since they all have that collector's box packaging instead of slips. No doubt to bait owners of the big set with rebuying their favorites. Top shelf service. Last edited by Telemachus; 07-07-2021 at 04:54 PM. |

In 2014, we had: 1/4/5 owned by Trancas, with Anchor Bay as the distributor. 2/3 owned by Universal, licensed out to Shout. Curse/H20/Resurrection were still owned by Miramax and licensed out to Lionsgate, but Shout was able to go directly to Miramax for their inclusion in the box set only RZH/RZH2 were owned by The Weinstein Company, with the former being distributed by Genius Films and the latter by Sony. In both instances, Shout & Anchor Bay were only allowed to use the existing discs. ...with Anchor Bay handling the distribution of the set rather than Shout. Now, we have: 1/4/5 still owned by Trancas, with the distribution rights apparently no longer being with Lionsgate (via their purchase of Anchor Bay), so Shout probably has them now 2/3 still owned by Universal, licensed out to Shout. Curse/H20/Resurrection still owned by Miramax (obviously), but now Paramount has a minority stake in the company (49%) and outright owns distribution rights to the library. RZH/RZH2 are owned by ???, but Lionsgate is currently distributing that library for however long. The existing releases are OOP. With Shout potentially having licenses for 1-5, there's really only three studios at play now. It just sucks that Paramount no longer licenses out their titles (and never licensed out UHD rights), and Lionsgate is Lionsgate. |

So, the new 4K scan of '78 film is approved by Cundey, didn't he approve the Lionsgate one? And then just the blu-ray has the original color-timing -- is this the same blu-ray as the 35th anniv. edition? This is confusing to me. It seems no definitive, so a no-go.

If that’s the case, then this presentation will at least be “more definitive” than the Lionsgate UHD, because it uses the OCN as well as the original mono. |

For now I've only preordered Halloween III but I'm waiting to see what happens with 1 to see if really turns out superior to the Lionsgate release (might also get 2 in that case). |

So it seems to me like the new Halloween 78 set will be a *fixed* version of the previous 4K. If the new BD is also the fresh scan, I don't think there's any doubt it will be a little better than the 35th BD just for the recent scan/compression, and if they slightly redux the color timing or whatever it could be even better and look more between the old DVD and the update. What really sucks is it looks like the people who bought the other 4K got taken for a long ride. Damn, it looks like I might need this after all. I'm definitely not buying anymore 4Ks that are just vanilla releases.
I'm sure they will be readily available until they aren't, and then people will know which ones are impossible to find and what not. If I had to guess I'd say Halloween III is prime for being slept on and then impossible to find. Last edited by Telemachus; 07-07-2021 at 07:11 PM. |

I'm guessing that if you pre-order from Shout! Factory directly, they don't adjust the pre-order price, correct? I already have two Halloween posters that I adore, so I don't need these posters if it means I'm locked in at $36.99 per movie.
