The top three Eclipse Sets I'm hoping to get include:

Eclipse Series 17: Nikkatsu Noir

Eclipse Series 21: Oshima’s Outlaw Sixties

Eclipse Series 32: Pearls of the Czech New Wave

It's surprising that it as not made it to Blu-ray. I mean not just from Criterion but at least a Asian release.

They just added Ken Russell's Mahler to their Hulu channel so I guess we should be expect that on Blu sometime in the future.

Major Dundee is coming this fall (Twilight).Bolded ones are either already released by Criterion or should be considered as forthcoming (as far as I'm concerned). Now,what's the destiny of the rest of the aforementioned titles?
Just imagine Antonioni's The Passenger on Criterion Blu ..or Mr. Smith Goes to Washington

I watched it a couple days ago and loved it. If you're interested in music so will you.

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington would probably be a day one for me, that is just a fantastic film. Jimmy Stewart is probably my favorite actor.

Twilight Time also hinted at 1776 on their Facebook page.

We do know Twilight Time asked for In a Lonely Place but was rejected because "someone else" is working on it.

In a Lonely Place and Mr. Smith would be most excellent.

I just still cannot believe Sony would let go of On the Waterfront.

I just finished watching Tiny Furniture, and I must agree with the supporters...it's a good film. I will say that when
[Show spoiler]she gets in a fight with her mom, I was completely jolted from the created world I was invited to inhabit. That scene felt so horribly executed, I was glad when it was over.
If you love quirky, simple, character stories...check it out.

In A Lonely Place could be a Criterion title, and some rumors about Foreign Correspondent are whirling around ..those and the Blob would be a nice threesome from Criterion. Better Criterion then Twilight because for the same price you get more from Criterion.

I'm thinking about getting Rushmore, but the only Wes Anderson film I've seen is Fantastic Mr. Fox. Somehow I managed to avoid Anderson films all this time.

Just got done watching Being John Malkovich again - on HD DVD. :P My last viewing was on laserdisc around the time that came out. Still a great flick. I had forgotten how funny it is. Not sure yet if I'll buy the Blu-ray. The HD DVD was decent, but a bit on the soft and murky side.

I just watched Rushmore on blu - it was stunning. The picture quality is outstanding. As for the film itself - I thought it was quite brilliant. I don't really get the dislike for this director as evidenced by comments here and there. WA has a particular style that is clearly not to everyone's taste, but his talent is undeniable. I think perhaps people get annoyed with him because his presence as director is so much at the forefront, almost as much as his characters - but if you go with it, it's a ride worth taking, IMO.

People who've received their account credit say you get an email. I've gotten no such email, and it's been several months since I did the replacement. Hmmmmm....

I don't get the hate for Anderson either.

I dont' really remember Rushmore all that well. Haven't seen it since it's original theatrical release. I do recall really liking it. Of course, I was about 15 then. I'm definitely looking forward to getting the blu and visiting it again.

Tenenbaums has always been one of my favorites, and it has held up over the years to repeated viewings. Moonrise Kingdom was not nearly up there with Tenenbaums for me, but was still a terrific film.

So I guess that leaves me with two films I"ve never seen to judge his overall output. Darjeeling limited and Life Aquatic can't be THAT bad, can they?

Sorry.

Just makes me laugh.
I think it's useful sometimes, because a lot of us are unfamiliar with most of the titles they release until they release them, and there's plenty of people here that have seen them....so it sort of makes sense to ask each other's opinions.

I think much more ridiculous threads show up elsewhere in the forum...the ones where people ask very general questions about which new releases they should blind-buy (as if they need to buy something new every week), and give no indication to what their film interests are.

It wouldn't surprise me if Criterion released Funny Girl. They haven't had the chance to release a big Hollywood musical yet. William Wyler is also one of those great Hollywood directors that is not represented in the collection as of yet.

Suddenly, Last Summer is another highly likely title. It's a much better Tennessee Williams adaptation than The Fugitive Kind and is also directed by Mankiewicz; another major director not represented in the collection.

Where can I find more information on this?
If Criterion released that film I'd probably buy 2 copies out of respect. I love that thing.

Haha, yeah. I had emailed them prior but didn't hear back for a while. I was just confused and anxious because I've been waiting for that blu for over a month man. I guess they will have it back in stock the first week of August from what they told me, so if any of you are looking to pick it up it will probably be cheaper than the $33 tag on it now when they do.

I am planning on getting Three Films by Hiroshi Teshigahara during my next trip. I have never seen the films but they look REALLY interesting to me. Does anybody has some thoughts on them? Why you liked/disliked them?
