Your point about H3? It just wasn’t a very good film. The marketing for H3 was poor. It was just hanging on the coat tail of Halloween. They should have just called it something different and said something like ‘A Creepy story inspired by John Carpenter’s Halloween’ or something like that.
Nope. It was meant to have "Halloween" in the title. His original idea was to create a series of anthology like movies. Where each title started with "Halloween" with a subtitle after it. Each movie would have taken place on Halloween but would be an entirely different story with new characters. He made II so the studio would let him have III made. Sadly, a lot of fans that want more of the same cried and *****ed that Myers wasn't in that so they decided to pump out some sub-par sequels after that.

"Halloween III: Season of the Witch" might have been silly but it was fun and something different. Plus Tom Atkins is great.

I agree with that. H20 had a perfect ending that truly finalized everything.

Yes. The new film doesn't even feel like it has an ending. When it froze on the knife and cut to the credits, I was thinking "That's it?!" It feels more like it gets up to a certain point and then just stops. The only thing missing was a voice saying "Tune in next week. Same Bat-time, same Bat-channel" in order to see the conclusion. The filmmakers didn't even pretend to give us a conclusive finale, just for the benefit of making it feel like this particular story had wrapped up, the way they did with H20.

The freeze frame felt so awkward. Nonetheless, I liked the new movie a lot.

Bought Halloween II last night for $5, unless I end up going out I think that'll be what I watch tonight. Quick question though -- should I just watch the theatrical version, or is the TV cut the better version? Genuine question because I really don't know anything about this movie/series in general aside from the original, the remake, and now the new one.

is the cover art on the blu-ray page official or is it just something someone made and put it up until the official art is released? because tbh i dont really like it. it looks weird. i'd much rather either the art with laurie and michael or the one with michael holding up the knife

the theatrical cut is much better but the tv cut has a few scenes not in the movie and a few shots are very awkwardly placed. the one that had me rolling was the shot that was obviously taken from the hot tub scene with michael and it's just still while we hear mrs. elrod scream.

you should still check out the tv cut but don't rush to see it. it's just a lot of fun to watch what they used to show on tv before they just started playing the theatrical cut. i still need to get my hands on the tv and workprint versions of h20...

Yes, that's what we felt when we saw it (I went with my wife, my cousin and her husband and we all just looked at each other when the credits started to roll, not quite believing that we were supposed to accept that as a decent ending). Having only seen the film once, and been disappointed, I've kept much of my negativity to myself because, well, nobody loves a hater.

Do you really need everything wrapped up in a neat little bow for you?

Would you have preferred to see Michael get his head chopped off again?

The tv version is a fun watch if you're very familiar with the theatrical version. There are many strange editing choices in the tv version.

It really did feel like the ending to a TV episode. It actually reminded me a lot of the ending to an 'episode' of a Telltale Games series like The Walking Dead or The Wolf Among Us. I almost expected to see a trailer for the next episode that will be available for download in 3-4 weeks.

The only thing good about H20 was the decapitation. Everything else was terrible.

Exactly, couldn't of they come up with someone different and alittle original.

Overall, not a bad movie. Just had to many characters that added nothing, to many pointless side stories, silly comedic dialogue and way to many re-created scenes from previous movies and the showdown/ending was really underwhelming.

I will say though, the soundtrack was great, James did a great job as Michael and Jamie Lee Curtis was fantastic. I just wished they focused more on her and the relationship between her family. I would of loved to see more of a storyline with her and Allyson. They had great chemistry on screen, but there relationship wasn't developed enough.

If they had of made this a direct sequel to Halloween 2, had Michael and Laurie as brother/sister and focused pretty much solely on Laurie and her family, had more creativity in terms of certain scenes, showed more of the kills on screen and a better (and more original) finale/ending, the movie would of been so much better.

Halloween II (1981) clearly showed a dead Michael Myers (which of course made Halloween IV and further sequels pretty ridiculous)

so did H20-- (let's not even mention the next film....)

this movie didn't. I don't think it's unreasonable to say that the ending was a little inconclusive.

It's not like we saw him die this time...

How many other ways are there to kill him before it turns into Groundhog Day?
