http://www.energy-speakers.com/na-en...-5-1-overview/ I do like the design of the older surrounds, the CR-100s, better, however I wouldn't doubt that Energy spent a good amount of time designing their new surrounds to make a bad product. Don't worry, I would give Energy every benefit of the doubt on the CR-10s, and theyd be perfect to crossover at 80hz. Now, I use bookshelfs in my place because i cannot use bi/di-poles. I used to have the C-100s(CB-10s) and for surrounds, they were excellent, and even when i tested them as mains, they were very good. I don't think that there is enough info in surrounds to need the deep bass of the CB-20s, however, if you want to splurge and get them, theyd be fantastic. Right now I use a pair of Mission M30i's and a C-50 for surrounds in my 2/3.1 setup. I love the system as it is now, and even the C-50 holds its own on the heavy surround sound tracks.(you can see it in my gallery, the last Energy speaker I have) I hope I helped, But Id go CR-10s if you can first and wall mount them, then I would go CB-10s next if you have a built-in bookshelf wall like I have. |

I will eventually buy Dynaudio DM 2/6s as surrounds, I like to stick with the same brand of speakers cause Im particular that way. The DM 2/6s play close enough to my Excites that Im sure I wouldn't notice the difference. And it would save me a lot of $$ not having to buy the Excite X12s. |

dialog is a little veiled in comparison, Off Axis sitting is better in that dialog comes from the center of the TV, Im watching some shitty movie called letters from juliet.... everything coming from the center speakers. OK, onto MTV movie awards... lets see when something comes in as 2-channel it sounds so much more clear. IDK, well see how this works... I don't think I can keep this setup this way... LOL. The Dyns make the center sound bad. I guess thats what happens when your mains cost nearly 7 times the cost of the center speaker.

I still like and promote Energy, but they don't hold up to the Dyns. |

The 800's are great, they have a great design and the performance is awesome. I highly recommend the front heights. I was watching king kong and there is a scene where bugs are crawling above her head and you can hear it clear on the ceiling. I had one issue, which was the front heights would not play at the same as the surround backs. I was able to fix this by switching the surround backs to the surround terminals on the receiver and the auto calibrating it. They all play at the same time and now it's insane.

youre killing me.... The nice thing is that the X22 comes with a stand that angles up the center channel to the ears of the listener. Should be easy to integrate, I just need to get a barrier for the TV stand.

yeah it's unfortunate what happened to your TT, you don't want your center speaker to suffer either but what kind of barrier do you have in mind?

So after almost 2 weeks of owning the V-6.3's and letting them play for 8-10 hours /day I think I'm close enough or passed the 100 hour recommended break-in period. I think beacause I have speakers to directly compare them to I can say that there was not much difference if any from when I first hooked them up. I'm starting to believe more that break-in means just your ears getting used to the sound. If I didn't have the Paradigms beside them I might have believed they sounded different but the differences remained the same. I thought my Paradigms sounded better after a couple of weeks but I also played with the placement for the first couple of weeks til I got it sounding right.
I still think these are good speakers but even at the sale price of $2500 there are other speakers that I like better for the same price or even less. The main differencees between these and my Studio's is in the midrange which is very easy to tell with vocals but not so much with instruments. The bass stayed nice and clean but after re-positioning the 100's they sounded deeper with more chest thump than the 6.3's when playing old school rap music like Cypress Hill and NWA. The 6.3'd still had a tigher bass though. B-Real from Cypress Hill on the Black Sunday was pretty hard to listen to and I usually like to turn it up when I play that kind of music. They are still brighter sounding than the Studios but at times depending on what's playing sound more neutral. The Paradigms are the opposite more being neutral but at times can sound bright depending on the recording as well. I played all kinds of music with them and at times liked the 6.3's better but overall I think the Paradigms are the better speaker for me mostly because of the better - more natural sounding midrange to my ears. I still have these for a couple of more weeks and just hooked them back up to the XPA-3 So I'll listen to them the rest of the time without the 100's hooked up and try to move them around and play some more with toe-in and placement. |

I have the CF 70's paired with the Definitive Pro 800 as surrounds and the Energy CC10 as the center channel. I also have it hooked up to a Pioneer Elite VSX 33 and a Klipsch SW 450 sub.
The best part was putting it all together now I don't know what to do or what else to get. I did the Auto calibration and it sounds great but I'm thinking it can sound a little better. Don't know what else to do though. |
