Yeah, I’m a big fan too. The girl was outstanding too. I couldn’t get the film out of my head for a few weeks.

*Excuse the awkward linking but I have totally forgotten how to embed the pics with them. It's not as srtraight forward as it used to be and different than other forums. In other forums I can just copy and paste the pics and link them that way. Can't seem to do that here and I'm obviously not seeing the workaround.

Search title of interest on this site, select it and you will see a number at the end of the web link, put that number between two BD with open and close brackets. Quote this message to see. When graphic is clicked it will load title with a link to Amazon.

I rewatched this tonight for the first time since I saw it with my laserdisc copy. Sadly, there is no blu-ray of it.

After seeing this demonstration, I'm all in on my next HT expenditure...

Although in true fashion, I can't see myself simply plonking down the money on a commercial unit from MADVR..LOL..

I'll probably consult with the boy and figure out what "upgrades" he wants to make to his supercomputer and part out the rest from scraps lying around the house and turn this into a joint project like the JELLYFIN server...which came together almost a little too easily after we finally decided to just do it after way too much talking about it..

On a related note, I rewatched the UHD of LONGLEGS last night using the 2:1 A/R ratio on my 2.2:1 screen and found it to be an acceptable compromise....but a compromise nonetheless

MadVR was free and still is sort of. Your boy make like the DIY route. I know I would. This link is kind of broken but if you click watch on youtube it works.

How to Build a madVR "Envy-Like" Home Theatre PC (HTPC) in 2024-25

Speaking of DIY - I drove my project car today which was so much fun.

Happy Easter !!

I'll be sure to watch the video when I have a spare 48 minutes LOL... I see that there is a specific section devoted to the ZIDOO Z9X that has me intrigued.

I don't celebrate easter anymore but everyone's home today so I'm looking forward to celebrating just that fact alone today..LOL..

Hoping that all of you can carve out some family time today as well!

Have fun with your project no matter which route you take.

The JVC rep that spoke with truly felt there was no need for an external processor with the new RS/NZ series. I am just now getting into frame adapt HDR setting on the RS3200. Have purchased a sensor and installed the calibration software on the HTPC but have not calibrated as of now.

With the purchase of a new JVC projector, Stewart screen, a new high efficiency HVAC for upstairs, tree removal and a new 2025 Chrysler Pacifica Pinnacle has taken its tool on the bank account. The manual on the Pinnacle is > 360 pages and the manual for the Pinnacle Uconnect 5 (Radio Center) > 230 pages. We have already watched > 25 videos and about a third the way reading the manuals for this vehicle.

Because I am a heathen I saw Sinners in IMAX and it was glorious! Folks should get to it and see it on the biggest screen possible.

I watched it yesterday in our Big D theatre which is about the size of a Liemax screen. They also just switched to Laser projection, which brings it close to Dolby Cinema as far as color and contrast goes. Would love to see it in IMAX but probably not in the cards.

On a separate note, fantastic movie and highly recommended.

Scooped up War of the Rohirim, Blazing Saddles, and Godzilla Minus Zero.

The general consensus over at AVS for my projector is that there is still improvement to be had using MADVR withregards to HDR, but that in most cases, it is so marginal as to not warrant the added complexity of setup.

Between using an upgraded meter with AUTOCAL and the latest JVC internal HDR tone mapping, I am very happy with the picture that my unit throws and would not be looking to tinker.... but I do see shifting aspect ratios as something that will increasingly be getting on my nerves and the current need to conform to a 16x9 standard is understandable... From the video I linked to, it appears that MADVR offers an elegant solution, albeit at a price... the more I look into it, the more I'm thinking that I would probably bypass it in most instances and use it exclusively for movies with shifting AR... seems like using a sledgehammer to kill a fly...but I know that I'm going to cave, so I'll lean into it...

Having seen what the JVC can do and loving it, and then seeing the impact of what the Envy makes on an overall image, it is easy for me to say that the difference was worth it for me to take the plunge.

As far as manufacturers’ reps go, I have been in retail for nearly three decades listening to reps supporting their brands and building them up, and learned early on they are doing their job when they open up their mouths. If the JVC rep made the comment “There is no need…..” it is to support JVCs capabilities and not necessarily factual as the majority of Envy owners will refute that statement.

Need is a strong word though as most of what we do in our systems to get better bass, better image, better dynamics etc is definitely not a “Need” thing in the grand scheme of things.

The second biggest benefit to me is the Envy’s efforts with motion interpolation as that was something that bugged me with some panning with the JVC. The Envy gives the capabilities to dial it in without looking like a soap opera.
