I liked it a lot, but I do wish Nolan had gone in a different creative direction than having a broken Bruce Wayne needing 45 minutes to put on the suit again. This is only exacerabated by the fact that Bruce gets broken again 30 minutes later and needs nearly another hour before donning the suit once more.

As for the look of Batman Begins, Nolan reportedly sat down the crew before they began production and screened Blade Runner for them. He then told them that was how they were going to make their Batman movie. And it shows. The design of the city, especially the Narrows with the rain pouring down. It was oozing Blade Runner. There's nothing wrong with being inspired by Heat when making TDK. But one shouldn't be surprised when the end result is a crime drama that happens to feature a guy dressed as a bat and a nemesis in clown makeup. Same with TDKR which was based in part on A Tale of Two Cities. A fine piece of literature. But key characters disappear for a lot of chapters in that book before suddenly resurfacing, and the same thing happens in TDKR.
Was thinking the same thing. This is my least favorite of the 3. It was a major let down for me.

I consider the audio a strong 5/5. My mind drew this conclusion.

The opening plane sequence didn't exactly look like it was shot in true IMAX, IMO it looked just as bad some of the 2:35 scenes, which I found most to be either to dark or dingy.
So glad not just my eyes. The scene where the police enter the bar searching for the Congressman is in Imax and the detail in that scene was surprisingly lacking, particularly the close-up on Selina's face as she begins shooting, detail seems crushed.

Watched two times in the last two days and loved it. Audio was fantastic, not perfect, but very, very good and really supported the film well. Bane was a bit hard to understand at times......he was plenty loud enough, but the effect on his voice was a bit annoying and hard to comprehend on occasion. Watched at my normal -1 from reference and it was a powerhouse! Overall great audio track!

HATED the variable aspect however........72 minutes of this on a 2.35 screen.............

Even in light of the variable aspect which was terrible on my setup, glad I bought it. Great movie as well and very worthy of the series.

Watched this last night, and must say the Audio was quite dissapointing. Extreme LFE/Bass yes, but very poorly balanced IMO. This is the same as I remember from seeing it at the Theatre this summer, way to low dialogue/regular audio, and way too loud action sequences.

Usually have my Pre set at around -4 to -6 db on dts hd ma soundtracks, here I had to go all the way down to -14 on some of the loudest sequences, and at -14 the dialog is LOW. Did not dare turn it up in between as I didnt remember when any loud parts was coming..

Not good me thinks..
At last! Someone hearing what I'm hearing! I think this is the most LFE heavy bluray I own, yet the balance on the track is so weighted in favor of the LFE that the mid-level is masked which makes fine detail difficult to hear!

The bass is SUPER heavy. Very rumbly. I just deal with it though, can't be arsed to turn it up and down.

As far as the look of the Trilogy set, personally I'm not a fan of how the Trilogy set looks. It's a bit too bulky, it's DVD case size, and the artwork is ok, but not great. This is just another marketing ploy by Warner Bros. for folks to come out and re-purchase the Batman Trilogy when the (Ultra Slick, Ultra Cool) Ultimate Edition comes out next year.

What I don't get is over at the steelbook thread, someone took photos of their best buy exclusive. The discs were black/clear and did NOT say Reborn on them. Now my best buy trilogy discs DO say Reborn and those are black/blue/white discs. So the steelbook disc pics look exactly the same as my Cowl pics.

I apologize in advance if this doesnt really belong here but I have an extra steelbook and digibook from Target. Before I take them back to their respective stores for refunds, I was wondering if anyone not in the US would perhaps like to trade for something that is exclusive to your country. I would really like to get the canadian best buy exclusive.

What don't you get? The Rises discs were specifically designed to match the color scheme in the rest of the trilogy set. All other versions were designed to be the same since they are standalone releases.

Why doesn't the extra disc in the steelbook say "Reborn documentary" like the BB exclusive trilogy disc does? I get the color difference but how does one know for sure the steelbook bonus disc has the doc when the disc looks the same as the one included in the Cowl?

I guess you wouldn't until you popped in the disc and looked through the special feature menu.

I wasn't so sure it was on the disc until I did that.

All Steelbooks at Best Buy have the Reborn doc, while only select specially marked copies of the Trilogy have it at BB. That's probably why they specially marked the discs for those sets. As long as one buys the Steel from BB there's no concern of it not being on the disc.

C'mon, Batman is in the movie. He's still the center that the film is built around, especially Dark Knight Rises.

When he's Bruce, he's just Batman in a human mask.

The reason why we don't see the costume for extended time early in the first half is because Batman wasn't needed anymore. Despite Dent's death (and Rachel's), the city and it's commissioner had it under control. Until Bane. It's the classic "retired cop" story element.

And for breaking his back, Bruce had to be shown at his lowest low point. No playing bats after a duel with Bane. It had real consequences and made for a bad ass teaser poster.

Nolan's trilogy gave real depth to the villains. That's why it seems like they were on screen so much. Some of the best character development we've ever seen. Look at pretty much every other comic-book movie made to see how it's not done.

Great trilogy as a whole, the finest of this crazy genre, by far.

My only complaint was the end, where the hero who saves the day is Catwoman. Batman saved by pure luck as this chick magically blows a hole thru the wall.

I'm new here, I was wondering if you could tell me how to use "

", as to not give away any plot points of the movie?

Thanks!
