Honestly the film is significantly improved by the extended cut which is only available in 2d. That is the way I would recommend viewing it first.

Suntory was quoting you on Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, not Texas Chainsaw.

I also watched the extended cut before the 3D version, likewise with the Wolverine as well, I still need to watch my extended Avatar edition but always find myself putting the 3D version in to watch, I just cant help myself.

Last night I watched Xtinction: Predator X in 3D – the German disc retitles the film as Jurassic Predator, though only on the packaging.

I’ve seen a fair few of these German autoconversions of cheapo monster movies and can safely say that this one is one of the worst. Everything is pushed back into the screen just a little bit but there’s no discernable 3D effect whatsoever. I didn’t get any sense of objects existing in a 3D space, or even any depth. And forget about pop-out, none of these conversions ever have any of that. Unless you are a glutton for punishment, do not bother with this film.

* A Haunting In Salem and The Haunting Of Winchester House are actually real 3D, but the latter is missing the English audio in the 3-3D-films-on-one-disc Horror House Box, so I sold that on to get some of my money back, as I already have the individual releases. I don't rate them either, some of the dullest real 3D I have had the displeasure of sitting through. My brother was really angry at me for wasting his time when I put one of them on for us to watch.

My UK version of Enchanted Kingdom 3D also finally arrived, so I will have to watch that at some point soon.
Hmm. That's a neat and tidy collection. The exchange rate isn't too bad on the Euro dollar now. Is there any virtue in Thrill Kill with Dolph Lundgren? Sometimes he makes a worthwhile genre film, other times ....

There's actually a few more films in that collection, as a couple have "bonus films" (also autoconverted) but on the flipside I read that one of the Hansel & Gretel ones was cut, making it utterly worthless - you win some, you lose some.

In answer to your question I haven't watched Thrill To Kill (aka Ambushed aka Hard Rush) yet, I do generally find Dolph Lundgren's straight-to-DVD stuff above average but as Vinnie Jones and Randy Couture are his co-stars I don't think that will be the case here.

These were my last purchases also, I've still yet to watch Jurassic World though, although I did see it in the theater.

I watched Enchanted Kingdom which thankfully has gotten a UK 3D release in the end.

After all the hype I was a little disappointed - the 3D is mostly conservative, the voiceover is simplistic and short on detail, and the film contains no environmental message whatsoever.

Having said that, the film does contain some outstanding 3D footage. The animal footage is the usual African safari stuff, but the scenery is spectacular. Sending a 3D camera out over Victoria Falls provides a beautiful deep image and the shots inside waves breaking are among the best 3D I've ever seen. I also loved the shots of the volcano and volcanic landscape, I've never seen anything like that in such clarity before.

I do feel that more could have been brought out of the screen - for the most part this has nothing like the immersive 3D you get in some other documentaries - but all the same it's still real 3D and real high quality stuff.

Thanks for the comments & review on that one.
I've been looking into this one a bit, waiting for its release

It's not the same thing as this is it? https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Encha...lu-ray/111242/
Both being BBC Earth titles, I wasn't sure if it's the same thing

Was eventually going to purchase that amazon.jp one, just haven't gotten around to it -
but that saves the trouble of having to import it (and double the price) then if the same content

I'm not sure the extras are the same, but the film itself is, which is good enough for me.

Anyway, I just watched The Amazing Adventures of the Living Corpse (available in 3D in Germany) The 3D was barely there (zero pop and minimal depth, I had to check my glasses a couple of times to make sure I was actually watching in 3D) and it generally looked like a last-gen video game but it did make a change from talking animals and kiddy stuff. A good one to put on to frighten the children, it doesn't cop out like Paranorman...

A couple of things on this:

The Japanese release is a 3 Blu-ray disc set, including a 48 minute bonus Blu-ray disc.

It also includes a Dolby Atmos track or it plays at Dolby TrueHD 7.1 48Khz/24bit if you're not Atmos-ready. This is one of the top-tier 7.1 tracks I've heard. Extremely immersive audio experience.

I'm not sure what the specs are for the other releases, but the Japanese release holds nothing back. Only Baraka comes close to the PQ/AQ on this release.

The UK set has no bonus disc but it does have about 10 short making of featurettes and the PQ is exemplary. The audio is 5.1 MA but I don't have any form of surround sound setup so the absence of Atmos is no skin off my nose, the film is pretty much all voiceover anyway.

I'm glad I didn't import this from Japan but I guess those who have Atmos may want to...

Anyway, today I watched Blood Shot which is one of my recent guilty pleasures. It's an unashamedly politically incorrect tale of a CIA vampire hitman going up against evil Islamist terrorists led by a blacked-up Brad Dourif. Throw in Christopher Lambert as the President and Lance Henriksen as the head of the CIA Vampire Division and you can't go wrong. It's another German 3D autoconversion, much better than the last one I watched but still nothing special as far as the 3D goes. As is often the case, there's a bonus movie on the disc - Some Guy Who Kills People - that's also been autoconverted to 3D.

Finally got around to seeing Jupiter Ascending.

I really enjoyed it, although I have to say that the 3D was more in the style of just being there, and not the "in your face" style that some films have.
