I wonder if they're going to bring back some of the force ghosts for these films. Hayden Christensen's career is pretty much a ghost at this point.

Star Wars is in part a story about the changes that one goes through in life. While I agree with those who think that if Fisher and Hamill are in the film, they shouldn't be the main focus, a possible and valid plot line might indeed be that the promise of youth doesn't always pan out. Maybe Leia and Luke look old and terrible because in spite of all their youthful efforts, it did not bring peace to the galaxy and it ruined their own lives.

I've proposed several times that there should have been a story where after the events of VI, the masses discover that Luke was Vader's son and since they considered Vader to be a terrorist, Luke is accused of being part of the Empire. Maybe that's not shown, but now it's years later and maybe Luke and Leia either spent time in the equivalent of prison or had to spend the best years of their lives in exile. Maybe they've lost "the way" and even the ability to use the Force and this new story is about the next generation or even the generation after that picking up from where their once youthful parents left off in order to fight some new threat and to once again restore the name of Skywalker to its "rightful" place.

All people eventually get old (unless they die young) and most of them get out of shape. Get over it.

There should be no "ghosts" unless those ghosts are Luke and Leia.

Script is done, they're in deep prep now. I would think every major role has been cast, at least those require training which should have started now. Shooting starts April.

leopard spot leotards! Why does everyone think they need to get into spectacular shape for this movie? It isn't like they are going to be swinging across a trench or anything this time. They are supposed to be the elders now, let them look it. Besides, depending on the story, it could work to their advantage - work hard to overthrow the empire only to act in a similar manner and get fat off of the hard work of others over 30 years.

I still say that Disney should pay Fox a few million for the rights to the Alfred Newman theme and studio logo. Just slap the Disney logo before that so at least it looks and sounds like a Star Wars movie leading into the "A long time ago" intro.

Nah, that would just being doing it for nostalgia-sake. It'll be weird at first, but we'll get used to it pretty quickly with how many time most of us will likely end up watching these films.

‘Star Wars Episode VII’ Will Shoot From May Through September

Briefly: By now we all know Star Wars Episode VII news isn’t official unless it comes from the official website. Even so, up until now Lucasfilm and Disney aren’t giving fans anything like the kind of intense minutia we’re all interested in. When it comes to a movie like this, we want to know every little detail. Today, HitFix has a pretty good report, however.

Just as writer director J.J. Abrams hinted at a few weeks back, filming of the new episode will begin in Mid-May and continue through September of this year, leaving about one year for post production. They site has also learned “most principal casting on the film is complete, with many announcements still to come.” [HitFix]
