I'd keep a close eye on that Arkansas-LSU game later in the season. Arkansas has been very good since their early season loss to Alabama and could definitely surprise LSU.

i can answer that one.

it's because the team was most likely looking forward to the game next week against auburn. the iron bowl is the most important game of the season to us; second only to a national championship.

georgia southern is a good football team, division 2 or not. there's a reason they were 9-1 (same record as 'BAMA at the time). the triple option is a tough offense to defend against. i'm not making excuses, it's just how it is. they have some damn good players on their team and should be highly commended for doing what no other team this season has done.

i also believe our defense was still beat up a little bit from the lsu game. that was a rough game, on both sides, and it shows in the way we played the past 2 games. we have some injuries, on both sides of the ball, that we need to be healed for us to give auburn a good game.

Funny thing is your own school is the only one to really ever buck the system. The 1984 BYU team is the only school from a smaller conference to win a national title.

Smart move, hopefully the NCAA will see this and take that into consideration when deciding how long our postseason ban will be. We did the right thing.

Pretty incredible how many undefeated teams have fallen over the past few weeks. There were still 6 undefeated teams 3 weeks ago and 5 undefeated teams 2 weeks ago. Now it's just LSU and Houston. Wouldn't really surprise me of we end up with two 1-loss teams in the title game.

Then again this could all be so much easier if they just had a playoff with the top-8 BCS ranked teams. See how easy that is? But noooo.... we have to pick the top two out of that cluster*uck.

That's an interesting point. I was talking to my father-in-law and brother-in-law over the weekend, and all three of us were saying how badly we want Arkansas to beat LSU and screw the BCS up even more. It seems most everyone across the nation just wants the BCS to fall on it's face this year to show how bad of a championship system it is.

Yes, the BCS is a flawed system. Right now, the top three teams are from the same conference, and the crazy BCS rules would make one of those top 3 teams, IN THE NATION, -----NOT---- be eligible to play in ANY BCS Bowl Game.

I'd love to think that would matter, but it likely won't. In 2000 Miami got screwed out of a spot in the title game. Then in 2003 the BCS screwed USC out of a spot by picking an Oklahoma team that lost it's conference title gave in a 35-7 blowout to Kansas St. I believe it was Oregon who got hosed in 2001 when Nebraska made the title game over them. The BCS has had many cases of putting suspect teams in the title game and no change to the system ever happens.

Division II has a playoff system in fine working order, and it's unfortunate the Big Boys don't do the same. Watching 6-5 teams play in Bowl Games with half empty stadiums is a JOKE. Get rid of the Bowl games (No one cares about them) and implement a playoff format. It is absolutely LUDICROUS that a Championship Game's participants are decided by complex, mathematical formulas and not on the field. It's laughable that such a prestigious Championship doesn't have a playoff format. I guess money speaks LOUDER than integrity.

I still don't see how money could be the issue. There's no possible way something like an 8 team playoff would rake in less money than the existing #1 v. #2 game structure.

The elimination of all the Bowl games and just having an 8 team playoff. I don't care about any of the Bowl games as it is (other than the Title game). I'm caring about them even less with an 8 team playoff. In a nutshell I see them as exhibition games and I'm assuming most fans do as well. I could certainly be wrong but with the elimination of all those useless Bowl games would it not hit the NCAA in the wallet?
