They already have very strong relations with Universal, so almost anything is possible. The question with those particular titles is whether Scream get there first, as otherwise they might not see as much benefit in them as UK exclusives.

So Arrow have nabbed the Morgan Creek library, eh? Sweeeeeeet. Given their predilection for including alternative cuts then yeah, I'd love to have Ace Ventura with all the TV footage cut back in.

It's going to be such a mind-trip to see an Ace Ventura cover under the Arrow Video branding.

I'd get ready for a lot more moments like this over the next decade. As the studios realise it's best to let the indies deal with home video.

I totally forgot that I had preordered the Bava boxset that Arrow is putting out. I didn't realize it's only a week away!

Has this shipped for anyone yet who ordered it directly from Arrow? I believe it sold out on their site. I know the disc content is the same as the special editions they've already released but I'd love to see a pic of the actual packaging.

SURPRISE NEW UK TITLE: Satanic Panic (Blu-ray and DVD releases)

A delightfully camp peek into the dastardly vice of the 1% with murderous babysitters, blood-crazed soccer mums and more than her fair share of lustful demons.

Pre-order on Blu-ray via Arrow: https://arrowfilms.com/product-detai...lu-ray/FCD1972
Pre-order on DVD via Arrow: https://arrowfilms.com/product-detai...ic-dvd/FCD1950

Never heard of this...

Going forward, if Arrow want to announce their modern film releases on random days (outside of the monthly announcements), I wouldn't complain

And when you take into account the broader details (they're all Morgan Creek titles once with Warner Bros; WB lost the rights to their Morgan Creek titles in the US a few years ago; the current Blus are OOP here; two of these films are now being licenced by boutique labels internationally, in countries where they were once with WB), there's enough to suggest something more could be at work.

On a related note, I see here they mention having some classic Gamera movies on their new channel, which is interesting. Could these be set for an eventual Blu-ray release (at least in the UK) I wonder?
Aren't streaming titles submitted to BBFC as 'VoD' rather than 'Video'? I'm pretty sure 'Video' indicates home video, i.e. Blu-ray or DVD.

Probably won't be, since the last time they were asked about UHD they said the following:

Quote:
No plans for UHD at this time; the discs are a lot more expensive to produce and the market is still in relative infancy.

It could trigger further payments that are simply unviable, especially from anyone cut out of the movie. In the past there have been problems with things like nudity in deleted scenes where the actress has contractual approval of nudity. And sometimes they're so pissed off they won't give approval to the people who junked their work (ie Harvey Keitel and Apocalypse Now).

I still have to see Satanic Panic, but it's been on my radar for a bit now.

special edition of Ace Ventura with a featurette/video essay on transphobia in mainstream and indie cinema by a trans critic would make it worth a new release

If that Ace Ventura thing is right, then Arrow are really scraping the bottom of the barrel. It had a few laughs back in the day, but watching Jim Carey acting like a buffoon for 90 minutes nowadays is about as fun as Brexit.

I'm not a fan of the Ace Ventura films, but they would obviously sell very well for Arrow, so it makes sense for them to pick them up. And as fans have noted, there are multiple cuts of the first film at least, so I'm sure many would appreciate the deluxe treatment (perhaps even bundle it with the sequel).

It works for me, better than the comedies we get nowadays but that's just my opinion.
