The American opening theme has to have some of the most unenthusiastic singing I've heard and I forgot what "Power of Love" even sounded like and gave a quick listen...let's just say there's only "Power of Love" that I need in my life.

Ha. Where to even begin....

As someone who never grew up watching SM and thus has no sentimental attachment to the 90s version, I can honestly say that that is the cringiest, most poorly done dub opening I have ever heard. *I* can sing better than whoever they hired for that. My ears are bleeding....

Also, Stars was the only season that had its own opening theme, they ditched Moonlight Densetsu for whatever reason, so... that would never have worked, anyway.

I’m not a huge fan of her Sailor Moon songs, but I do really like Jennifer Cihi. She sang one of my favorites from City Hunter:

I can say the same thing about Moonlight Densetsu. At least I can sing along with and understand the American theme.

It was sung by Nicole and Brynne Price, 12 and 15 year old sisters at the time of recording. Can’t be too harsh lol Sailor Moon’s English theme is well known for being one of the first dub theme songs to use the actual Japanese theme tune so that should be appreciated at least.

I don't let language barriers ruin a song for me.

Viz did something similar with InuYasha The Final Act. They used to always put the English credits in the endings but they didn't this time around. The back of my Blu-ray says it has English credits, so it's probably just the text rolling through on a black screen. On top of that, they didn't include creditless versions of the opening or three endings, which really annoyed me.

I don’t either. There are plenty of Japanese themes that I love and have learned to sing along with word for word (though I don’t have a clue what I’m saying). I’m just saying that Moonlight Densetsu also lacked emotion imo. I just am not fond of it period so I much prefer the American theme because it at least makes me feel some type of good emotion.

[Show spoiler]I’m sorry, it’s hard for me to say
Although it’s easy to say it in my dreams
My thought circuit is about to break down
You know right now, I want you with me

It has me nearly in tears, this moonlight
Can’t even call you because it’s midnight
But my heart is sincere, what can I do?
My heart is a kaleidoscope

The moonlight guides us to our destination dear
Time and again, we’ll find each other
Counting the sparkles of the constellations
Foretelling me the future of this romance

We were born on the same planet
This is the miracle of romance
I believe in it. This is the miracle of romance.

Okay, here's a better comparison between the Viz BDs and Madman's DVDs:
(oh, and Robbl, before you say it- no, I'm posting them as is because I didn't scale the DVD caps)
Viz BD shots are spoilered to hide it's awfulness.

These are all from Episode 1, so no spoilers. The Madman DVD caps were done in VirtualDub 2. The Madman DVD has the correct colours, and Viz clearly doesn't...

Can't unsee this page. I was legitimately unaware Sailor Moon had American themes.

Classic and R had their own American BGM too. It was an interesting time

It reeks of DiC “R” had the American BGM; not S. S and SuperS had the original, superior, Arisawa score.
