Holy....shit...I can't say enough bad things about this movie. complete and utter MESS of a movie. the reshoots are PAINFULLY obvious and the tone shifts are incredibly wild... I'll take the 2005 version any day of the week over this crap

I actually feel bad for the actors.

They probably aren't very proud of their work right now (even though it's not their fault).

Yeah ive been wondering what goes through an actor's mind when a movie does not turn out good and they have to promote it.

Same here. It's a pretty damn good cast but it seems like they picked the wrong project. If you look at most of Teller's interviews for this film you could tell he doesn't give much of a damn about it. He knows with the drama with Trank and the reshoots that this project isn't exactly quality.

4 days ago Teller said he doubted the movie would rate 80% at RT, now they will be lucky to hit 25%.

"Five" bad reviews?

Well now it's up to 8 and 20% fresh and the actual embargo was supposed to last until 9pm EST tonight so several more might be added before they would have, if they themselves had stuck to the embargo.

Did they help this weekends BO take by taking a few out of context positive quotes and running them in an ad?

I think not.

Bad marketing from DAY 1.

Fox probably saw what they had and decided it wasn't worth investing anymore into it than already have. Time to just release it and hope for the best just based on name recognition.

The blame is petty much all on FOX and especially Trank

Yeah, it makes more sense to blame an incompetent mess of a movie on the fans.

Yeah sure! LOL!

But it does make me happy to know that all my complaints about this movie from the start, as well as those of others, could have had some sort of influence on Fox to at least attempt to make it better. Imagine how awful it would have been if nobody said anything. Heehee.

Yes Fox is to blame. It's not opinion or a conspiracy theory that they pushed this out quickly to keep the rights from going back to Marvel.

Also, I'm sick and tired of this exaggerated bull s*** that comic fans want EVERYTHING identical to the comics. I don't think I've EVER f***ing seen a poster on most of the forums I've been to over the years want a superhero film to be Exactly like the comics down to the smallest costume detail. If any of those fools exist they are in the darkest corners of the internet.

A few people on this website use any chance they get to s*** on comic book fans and due to mod bias they never get infracted for trolling/talking s***. I've become sick of selective reading or ignoring key points in someone's post simply to keep up an argument or s*** talking. Case in point, I've brought up numerous times that I agree that not everything in the comics would work well in the films and some films have made changes to the source material for the better. This of course got ignored every time and people would latch onto ONE, count 'em ONE criticism and write me and others off as f***ing fanboys. I'm going to be reporting like crazy in the near future... I love talking about film and cinema in general, not just comic book films but it really takes the fun out of things when people who don't give a damn about comics(nothing wrong with that of course)go out of their way to trash those who do for wanting one visual medium adapting another visual medium to actually look or feel familiar to an extent at least.

Forbes are predicting $45 million weekend. Probably won't reach that.
http://www.forbes.com/sites/scottmen...ad-buzz-alone/

Anyway, Fox aren't without blame. Of course not, they're the creative mind behind it. Trank isn't without blame either. But this film has been blasted by fans for months, that obviously plays a factor in its reception. These negative reviews undoubtedly play a factor in how audiences respond and whether they want to see it or not. But I am not going to blame the idea of making an FF film, I am not going to blame Trank's initial concept which actually sounds a very strong idea. The execution we can probably blame. But let's wait until everyone on this thread has seen the film and can write long posts on how terrible it is, okay?

I do feel kinda bad for CelestialAgent that this thread has completely succumbed into a cj of hate now that negative reviews are being posted. It can be tough to defend something that is almost universally despised. (Unless there are a lot of positive reviews which will be uploaded once the embargo lifts... I'm still waiting for the majority consensus, RT!)

I wasn't saying spend more money marketing it---I was saying what marketing they did backfired every time.

"Lets embargo the movie reviews until 9PM EST Wednesday, but Cherry pick a few positive quotes and run them 4 days earlier!"

"yeah the reviewers won't notice and will keep to the embargo we just broke!"

Thanks Infernal King. I was starting to get into anxiety mode.

We'll know the full damage through tomorrow and Friday.
