I figure I'm going to hang on to my Amazon.ca order for the time being. If somehow they do come through (I really, really doubt it) then I will give my extra copy to my brother for Christmas as he has given up on getting one.

If rep you talk to won't five the refund, try calling a day later. Maybe they'll give you the refund. Granted, mine was not opened. Had I opened it and if they wouldn't refund the difference, I still would have bought the cheaper one and returned it saying it was the more expensive one. Maybe this makes a difference, I used the online customer help instead of calling. |

Got my amazon package, in a cardboard BOX to my fortune. There are slight dents in nearly all the edges, but there are no tears, so it's in much better shape than the previous one; I call this a guaranteed keeper. Time to return the other copy back to DeepDiscount.

Hey everyone,
Can anyone tell me what this film is even like? Everyone is going nuts over this special edition (which looks really cool), but I haven't even heard of the film until this was announced. Is it comedic? Scary? Unique? I guess I just have to watch it. |

I guess the reason everybody's so excited about this release, whether they've seen it before or not, is because the footage was considered lost for two decades so people are happy that this cult film is finally being seen as Clive Barker intended. |

This movie is basically Clive Barker trying to masquerade as Tim Burton (Beetlejuice guy) with the mentality of Sam Raimi (Evil Dead guy), and not completely succeeding with his ambitious plan. It has great-looking monsters and an entertaining action-packed third act, but even if this is the director's original vision, the story still feels spotty and incomplete in places. The main villain is one I call excellently-designed but poorly-characterized, and the whole 'humans are bastards' theme could've worked if it doesn't feel so exaggerated and myopic. And the ending has that "is that it?" feeling, and if this whole thing is the best that the director has to complete, I'm worried about what the theatrical cut's gonna be like. It's a movie with great potential because of its mythology presented, but really, it's more of a film curiosity than a must-see movie. But that's my take. I say give it a online rental and see if this kind of movie appeals to you; don't jump into paying the set. |

You could consider just buying the Directors cut. It's harder to say if the deluxe version is worth it. I felt the theatrical was just an interesting extra, though not as bad as it's made out to be. Fortunately, I really wound up loving the (directors cut) film, so I don't regret splurging for the box set. EDIT: I've had a lot of films & music I later came to love ruined the first time around by listening to some guys negative comments dismissing it. I would try to defend the film specifically, but it would spoil some of it. If you like odd, unique films, and fantasy as well as horror, or have an interest in Clive Barker, this is at least a must-see. Last edited by billyearle; 11-23-2014 at 05:39 AM. |

Just watched the Theatrical Cut. Aside from the cliffhanger ending, it isn't THAT much different from the Director's Cut; just some additional inbetween bits for moments that were rushed or out of continuity. A few scenes were also rearranged in an attempt to cloak the real serial killer, which is admirable if it still wasn't a dead giveaway early on.
[Show spoiler] ; unfortunately, the other Nightbreed with some semblance of character depth is the normal-lookin' lady who can turn to vapor. I wanted to know more about the other monsters; where the hell is the lady with the weird face that's shown in the poster? Oh, and they made the priest evil for some reason, even though it's made incongruous for his actions during the third act. Not like the priest was given that much depth to him, as the aftermath for him made little sense to me either way. No silly concert act, which is another plus for this cut. Maybe the 160-minute Cabal cut adds more characterization than what's showing in both versions, because [I]Nightbreed[I] as I saw it still feels underdeveloped. I appreciate it for standing the test of time by concept, but that's about it. |

Whoever said this is a wanna be Tim Burton movie is only saying that because of the Danny Elfman score. He would have scored Nightbreed around the same time he did Beetlejuice. |

SO....
Finally have my Nightbreed LE in my hands. I got super lucky as it made two trips and survived without even so much as a scratch. I ordered it from Amazon.com and had it sent to my boyfriend who lives in the US, then he sent it to me. I received it this weekend. I have #3917. Rather random number but whatevs. ![]() |

I may not be part of the film's target audience---okay, scratch that, I AM its audience, but I don't think it completely works on its own---, but I for fans of the movie, this is quite a package. Last edited by Herry Dunston; 11-24-2014 at 02:15 PM. Reason: Accentuation |

![]() I heard that this film continues onward as a comic book series. On that note, if this was pitched as an original series for SyFy, I would not be against that idea. There's more story to tell going this route. |

Because the Cabal Cut was just all the footage (good and bad) cobbled together with very little rhyme or reason; the pace and continuity suffered because of it, which was the number one criticism (alongside visual/audio quality). It was throwing everything including the kitchen sink and seeing what stuck. Here, we actually get Clive Barker himself trying to come up with the film he originally filmed and intended (as best as possible). With extra, removed footage still included separately I'm not sure why anybody would prefer the Cabal Cut out of the two, and having said cut on a different disc in its entirety seems a bit of a waste, to be honest. I'd much rather have the Theatrical, even if it's obsolete and will have little play time; it was what was originally shown and is still important, historically.
