I looked around at FYE today and couldn't find this CD. However I realized I do have classical/orchestral music available through my cable tv(all those music stations buried around channel 900 or so). I'm currently pumping that station through at -30db. Speakers are sounding good about 10 hrs in to the break-in.

yeah, I wasn't sure that FYE would have it, however Amazon does. I played the CD today, there was some serious bass coming from my speakers. The cool thing about the CD, is that it has all the Star Wars songs plus, E.T., Superman, Star Trek, Indiana Jones, basically all the John Williams orchestra songs.

Its a good listen, even if you want to get it later.

No real reason as to why, just figured I would. Can't wait to give these speakers a real workout. They haven't even broken a sweat.
Buy Pink Floyd - The Wall. It will change your life... and speakers

I enjoy all scores from those movies too so I'm sure I'd like it, especially to help work in these speakers.

I was actually fiddling with the receiver today switching different modes cause I needed to watch Game of Thrones and wasn't getting any dialogue. Turns out my receiver has been setup like there was a full 7 speakers attached to it. I've got it in actual "Stereo" mode now (only the FR and FL lights are on) while listening to the classical station and seems more fuller now. I still can't wait to get a good sub or 2 though. I may be coming from a Bose 3-2-1 system, but that accoustimass module could dish out a little bass when it wanted to.

yeah, its easier to listen to orchestra when they are songs you are familiar with and from movies you really like and grew up with.

If I were you, I would go ahead and just run Audyssey and then later run it again in a month or so. You can always go source direct and turn off Dynamic EQ. But that way your speakers will be setup so they are recognized as just a 2.0 setup, the distance set, phase aligned, setup for imaging, etc.

Pure direct mode with no sub, just the two fronts and the meter roughly 10ft from the speakers situated in the middle pointing directly forward roughly 4ft off the floor. I'm using a Marantz combo to power the speakers (AV7005 pre/pro & MM7055 amp @ 140watt/channel).

That's disconcerting to hear the tweeters could be fried though, hopefully you just got unlucky but for both to go certainly raises concerns. Will be interesting to see what Energy says.

I should note I listen to mostly classic rock/hard rock. My reference just now was with Dream Theater's Images and Words cd.
Yeah I already talked to someone from Futureshop which is where I bought it from. I doubt I'll hear anything back from Energy. I'll be bringing these back this weekend or next. I don't think 95db's is that loud especially since I've been letting them play everyday since I got them at decent volumes. I was only playing them at that volume cuz I was doing stuff around the basement and not sitting down listening. Without the Subs on it would brobably be somewhere between 85-90db's which most speakers should be able to handle no problem. I rechecked all my wiring so I probably just had some bad luck with this pair. The thing is I can play some songs and not hear ithe static/hiss at all but on tracks with alot going on in the upper frequencies I can hear it even with the volume turned down.

Did you buy the center channel too or just the Tower's?

Sabotage from the Beastie Boys I suspect honestly it might be because of their hyper sensitivity to the source material honestly. I would be curious to hear exactly how this sounded like when you played that track. Have you tried someting else after, what cd player, speaker cables inter connects do you have?

If you were playing that with the Oppo, I am sure this is not the issue going from the fact that the speaker would be perfectly fine.

Anyways you already have great speakers with your Studios, I am just trying to figure out what that hissing noise is coming from. I know my Rainmakers are very sensitive and so were my C-500.

You might want to try the Same track on yours and see how it behaves Veritas maybe hyper-sensitive to the source material and this way we could warn people depending on what kind of music they listen, amp speaker cables and interconnects could make a big difference with those.

Yeah that's hat I thought too so I changed the CD To try something different. I put on some Oasis, Eva Cassidy and even Dr. Dre.. All different music to see what frequencies the distortion comes at. With Oasis it could be heard anytime alot was going on. When I played Eva Cassidy I thought it was gone since nothing could be heard with her vocals but as soon as the guitar started playing louder there it was with every pluck. I think Sabotage is what messed it up but at that volume I wouldn't say that is my fault so FS will be sending it back to Energy. Tge Studios are also pretty revealing speakers but don't have the same issue with Sabotage or any other song. I think I just got a bad pair but for both to go bad is not good.. Since I've had them they have had StraightWire Bi-wire cables on them and the Studios have Monoprice cables. It happened days after hooking up to an XPA-3 but I doubt more power could do that and I would think less power would be what could damage a speaker. I use my oppo BDP-83 through HDMI to play CD's/SACD's

Yeah sounds like you got a bad pair too, I mean I hear and read things ever since Klipsch moved production to China it's has not gone well for Energy, sad, If Energy was Still API owned this would not happen. Now owned by Audiovox I don't see it getting better.

Really sad if you ask me, this has nothing to do with what we use to see with Energy back 5 years ago.

New Energy user here!!!

Have a pair of CF-30's
CC-10
CB-5's for surround

Still getting everything together in my MANCAVE. Only have the fronts and center going right now. Coming from a 10 year old Sony HTiB, these things sound fantastic.

Funds are limited for me now, but I'll be upgrading to the CF-70's at some point, but for now, I'm pleased.

I'm trying to decide what channel amp to get 3,5, or 7. I was leaning towards the Emotiva XPA-3, XPA-5, or Outlaw 7125.

If I get the three channel to power the fronts and center and use the Pioneer Elite VSX 110x 7 receiver to power the front heights and surround backs how many watts will the receiver throw out while running 4 channels?

Front three are 2 Energy CF 70s and a CC-10. Surrounds are definitive tech pro 800

Go with the Outlaw, power all your channels, Surrounds are getting more action now with studio mixes, you'll be happy you have the extra power to them.

New situation, I know have the opportunity to take back my Pioneer Elite VSX33 that I purchased for 610 from BB and get the Pioneer Elite SC 37 for $1275. So for an extra $665 is it better to get the SC 37 or still go with the outlaw. The SC 37 has been tested to do 125 watts continuous while driving 7 channels. It's rated 140x 7 at 8 ohms.
