...what else?
Week End, The Soft Skin, Grey Gardens upgrade, Wenders 4 film set (more confirmed than Badlands) and Eraserhead (or let's just say anything from Hulu). Janus also has all of the Wellspring Fassbinders and the BRD trilogy re-issue to look forward too. Put down the rest of the Chaplin films as well.

Just the thought of Breaking the Waves is making me excited!

Perhaps even Dancer in the Dark could be in the horizon, too!

Unrelated but related to the thread, just started watching my netflix rental of "Shallow Grave" and boy does the beginning seem right out of "Trainspotting!"
I have yet to start watching my copy of Shallow Grave but I understand the film is very much like Trainspotting in several ways.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. This film is one of my favorites that I've seen in the Criterion Collection. I myself am thinking of buying the Oshima's Outlaw Sixties Eclipse set. Mr. Lawrence is very unusual, not just in acting but also in terms of story and style. How did you like the Ryuichi Sakamoto's musical score?

When 'good' compulsive-perfectionist behaviour goes 'bad'. I've not only flexed the spines on my Lean set to make them lie flat, but I occasionally glance at them, en passant, to make sure they haven't slipped back askew!

I can't recommend the Oshima's Outlaw Sixties Eclipse set enough but I feel it a a totally different beast than Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence. Doesn't really matter, in fact, you will be even more surprised. You should definitely get it as soon as you can.

doesn't happen in November or announced soon as a late October add in, .

Apu Trilogy will prob be early 2013 (maybe the first "big" release of the year, or pushed all the way to the summer like when The Music Room was released). We still have the Wenders set of 4 films too. And those poor Oshima films have just been sitting.
I am still wishing Criterion changes of mind and decides to add Pasolini's Trilogy of Life as an October release. It was the highlight of the month (And one of the best releases of the year)! I am certain they will release it in November if October isn't possible but it will be hard to believe Criterion will offer two major boxsets so close. I hope I am wrong as most of these releases are what I am looking forward to. I wish the Apu Trilogy gets released Q1 2013 too, it should be next year's Lean set. Also, wasn't Kiarostami's Koker Trilogy semi-confirmed in the same way? I ask because I don't know if I am just blindly hoping right now .

I believe this was on that bird's eye view of that desk of release papers for future releases (I thought they were all for 2012 if I'm not mistaken).

I just finished Tokyo Drifter and I really liked it. The pq was outstanding as well. The colors looked great and man does it have style! I actually liked it more than Branded to Kill. I would say its my second favorite Suzuki (Youth of the Beast #1). Suzuki has made me love Yakuza films. His films are just so crazy and out there.

Most of them have been true and so I hope this one is right. This is Kiarostami's greatest achievement and so Criterion should step up and do it in the best possible way .

Also, just watched Ensayo de un Crimen again tonight and I can't help but reaffirm my love from everything Bunuel . One of my favorite film from his and I recommend it to anyone who has not seen it. You can easily see how this is a very different Bunuel than the one most people is used to see in the French period. Same themes explored in a very different way. Every Bunuel "trademark" is present: Desire, lustfulness, religious allegories, satire of the "upper' class and many more. I also noticed this is one of the few Mexican Bunuel films Criterion should be getting. Most of the rights of his films are owned by Televisa, a company that is everything except rational (Hate them very much). Ensayo de un Crimen isn't owned by them so I have high hopes Criterion will look at it someday and decide it is time. Criterion, make it happen .

So I got my copy of Blow Out and noticed the back cover was bent in a bit, pushing up the circle where the disc is held. Didn't have that much of a problem though cause I'm not that OCD about stuff like that. Put the disc in and didn't think anything of it until I played the Nancy Allen interview, which paused and then skipped around so much it was unwatchable.

The thing is, the movie played through entirely well, as did the DePalma and Brown interviews, and the trailer (the only other features I checked out). This is the first time this has happened to me on any blu-ray ever.

So I'm wondering, even though its been opened and watched, what are the chance of B&N (either in store or online) taking it back and swapping me for another copy? And if I return it in store and there's no media department, can I have a replacement copy sent to that store?

I'd appreciate any feedback as soon as possible.

Another must have criterion DVD is the Young Mr. Lincoln. If this will not be released on Blu-Ray this year, I will buy this on DVD. Although I've seen the movie on bootlegs, it is a must have for every lover and collector of films. A Great movie for lawyers and every Tom, Dick and Harry. I rate this as a 9 and a classic of cinema.

I have yet to read something this summer that I haven't read already.
All excellent books! I own them all (yes, all 8 Time books), and still read them. The Time series is one of my favourites too along with The Dark is Rising Sequence by Susan Cooper and The Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander. I've read a bunch of L'Engle's other novels from the Austin Chronicles too. She was such a fantastic writer.

And don't feel bad, I re-read a couple novels I'd read before: Coraline and Weetzie Bat.

With people speculating as to what's to come via Hulu, no one but me mentioned Babette's Feast! I haven't watched it yet myself, yet my cousin raves about it. So there's another title for consideration.

Don't miss out on Beauty and the Beast by Jean Cocteau and The Seventh Seal, classics of world cinema and a must have too. Double dipped on these movies, I both have the DVDs and the Blu-Rays.

I've been waiting for Babette's Feast for ages. It just got released in Australia but no one online has reviewed it yet (quite annoying that no one in Australia has reviewed it. And then later this year, UK's Artifical Eye is releasing it on Blu-ray which will probably be better video quality than the Australian version.

If they could release these 2 and Dogville (+ upgrades of The Element Of Crime and Europa), I'd be ecstatic.

I think B&N always has the regular Criterions 10% off in store, so $36 ($32.40 if you have a membership), but who knows they might have it 20 or 30% off to go with the exclusive time period thing.

You really should read the time series. They may be classed as YA/Kids, but they're good for all ages as she doesn't dumb things down. I love Harry Potter, but I think thr first two books are the weakest out of hat series because they are childish.

Hard to believe A Wrinkle in Time is still a banned book in some places. L'Engle is religious, but nothing like Lewis, and she gets crap from the Christians for being too liberal.

I'd better stop because this is veering into verboten discussion territory.

Gotcha, glad to see someone else has an interest in it. I've put off watching it too long now.
