Tried to watch something on Netflix a few night ago.

Thank goodness for the little N logo signifying made for Netflix that lets me know most of what's on there is likely to be terrible. I gave up and found something on my free Peacock service instead.

agree with that, though I am not sure about your stats (and the guy was talking TV shows). Also we are talking Disney, Plus if someone was watching 3-4 films and 0-1 where Disney and still are, it will suck for theatres abut not Disney.

basically theaters went from getting 4 tickets per capita to around 2.5 over the last few years while films cost more to make. put the two togeather and theaters are about half as profitable as they used to be and They no longer get as much from cable or film. I am hypothesizing that the drops comes more from people quieting theaters all together based on my personal experience more then everyone going half as often.

Its like the scene from breaking bad:
Disney is getting a larger percentage with streaming but between costs, overhead and diminished returns they make less overall. Bigger percentages of a much smaller pie.

Investing in good speakers is well worth it. Speakers can serve their owners well for literally decades while most other A/V components fail or become obsolete.

Dormant VCRs, new in box or not, can still fail. VCRs are belt driven machines and belts that remain idle for extended periods can develop dry rot and/or devolve into a sticky goo like state.

This can also happen to disc players of all types, belt driven turntables, cassette decks, and pretty much anything with moving parts that require belts for their movement. Bad belts can be replaced if you can find the parts and have the know-how to do it, but the ease of belt replacement varies with the device.

Belt driven devices are like people; they need at least occasional exercise to stay fit.

Was at TOWER RECORDS in Dublin picking up a few titles today. I can't remember the last time that I was in a record store that actually sold records

My family took me to the Guinness factory for a tour. There were complimentary pints at the end... as the only one that drinks, I had to step up and drink all 4 pints to maintain family respectability ...I think the pints are bigger over here..hick

Yep, I still have my "legacy" speakers goings strong -- they're 25-26 years old now. The only thing I had to buy when I upgraded to Atmos was the two Atmos speakers for 5.2. I eventually retired my old sub and bought two new ones to complete the 5.2.2 arrangement.

My Polk SDA 2 floor standing speakers are still going strong after 41 years. I bought them in 1984 at the age of 22!

Among the many great things about living in Canada, is that PARADIGM speakers grow on trees... The Original Canadian made Monitor series sound great, are really available cheaper than dirt and last forever..

Everytime i upgrade my amp, I simply go outside and pick a new pair off of the tree..lol..

My left right surrounds (Montor 7) which used to be my mains were picked up more than 30 years ago..If I upgrade to the Denon A1H ( still working on it), I'll have no issues sourcing out a matching pair for front wide channels to go 9.4.6....

I was in Dublin a few years ago and did the same as you at Tower Records, the factory tour as well as a whiskey tour. The Guinness over there was delicious and the whole Temple Bar area was buzzing. Hope you enjoy the rest of your travels.

You look like Brian Johnson from Geordie and AC/DC with that fab cap on.

I'll take comparisons to Brian Johnson over Andy 'Capp any day off the week..

I didn't make it to the JAMESON tour... but stopped in at BUSHMILL for a dram on the way through the GIANT'S CAUSEWAY and Belfast.. The GUINNESS really is better over here and the scenery... just wow...

Damn impressed you dropped the Geordie reference in there.
