Very true. One of the first things I did when I bought my DVD recorder way back in 2004 was to hook it up to my VCR and copy my most precious tape recordings of TV shows onto DVD. The earliest VCR recordings from the late 80's were already showing signs of degrading, but were still perfectly watchable, and many of these shows have never been repeated so it makes them a bit more special to me.

Good memories, glad you enjoyed it.

I hope you get to sample Northumberland, especially Chillingham Castle.

All Because of You by Geordie was one of the first singles I bought with my own money from wages in 1973. I also saw the band in Birmingham UK supporting Slade. 5 years later I saw AC/DC with Bon Scott as the lead singer and was devastated when he died soon after. I remember Noddy Holder from Slade was rumoured to be lined up as the replacement to Bon but Brian was the obvious choice at that time IMO really.

I still listen to their debut LP Hope You Like It. Geordie are still going, they don’t sound as good without Brian but still a decent Live act.

I just KNEW you would say that! lol.

My Grandparents and relatives on my Dad’s side were all Geordies. All miners.

Never mind I’m sure there must be some decent musical artists from your neck of the woods. I did see the Tourists and I think Dave Stewart is from Sunderland.

Well, apart from your grandparents and relatives, I hate all Geordies!

Yeah, Dave Stewart is from here. We just became a music city, only the second in the country after Manchester, so there should be some stars in the future hopefully.

As you guys know I see Streaming as The Future, being able to watch just about anything current Movies and TV Shows plus your Collection. I have 5 Basic Providers that I keep and don't jump around. Amazon Prime, AppleTV+, Fandango, Hulu, and Netflix. I've been watching TV Shows on AppleTV, but the other day wanted to watch The Wild Bunch, so I pulled it up and watch it on Fandango from my Collection. I think very few Disc People could do this!

I would have loved to have seen AC/DC with Bon.

Incredibly difficult, agreed. I had to reach my arm out and drag it (director’s cut by the way) to my HT, I’m exhausted. The vastly superior HD and 4K quality of discs is no good for me anymore, I keep having to extend my arm to select a disc.

What’s the hard part about this? I could get that movie same day for like 6 bucks or borrow it same day from the library. I watched dragon ball kai part 2 the other day with the Yamamoto score and I bet almost digital collector can do that. Or perhaps I’ll watch the Simpsons star raving dad episode. Lots of stuff just isn’t available digitally.

I have the Director's Cut also, but do you have at least three Basic Streaming Providers, Amazon Prime, AppleTV+, and Netflix? If you do you are probably among a handful of Disc People with this capability!

I don't purchase virtual items so content wouldn't be in my Fandango collection if I didn't have the disc and there's no way I would want to watch something online that I have a better copy of on disc.

My Fandango and iTunes collection are used by my family who I share them with.

I have all 3 of the services you mentioned and access to several more (Disney+,Peacock, Paramount+, Kanopy) but streaming is a last resort for me as I own movies in higher quality.

Just how delusional are you? Most of us here use streaming also.

I have Netflix, AppleTV+, and Max for SVODs and I have Fandango and Movies Anywhere for digital "purchases." I'm pretty sure that my digital collection exceeds yours, too.

As for why in the hell would I want to watch that via streaming when I own the superior quality blu-ray?

If you have more than one way to watch a movie who in their right mind would choose the inferior method? Just when I think you can't make any less sense, you find a way.

My first TV was a gift and I instantly purchased a VCR. Nothing has changed in a significant way. I can watch broadcast but I would rather have my own content. Streaming is what broadcast and cable TV was.

Speaking of streaming - Echo Valley on ATV+ is dark, disturbing and excellent.

You should have at least 3 Basic Streaming Providers so you can determine it's not on any of them without an extra cost to rent or purchase it. Fun for the whole family.

You fumbled this one more than usual.

I have Prime video through Prime subscription, I have Netflix, Paramount+and soon Warner Discovery through a bundle deal with Sky Q, I have Tubi and Pluto for free. I have Apple through a mobile contract.
I’m only missing Disney and that’s no great miss.

I saw The Life of Chuck over the weekend. Highly recommended. Definitely one of the best Stephen King adaptions ever made.

I have seen pretty darn near every King adaptation and I found this one to be one of the weakest.

However if you want to catch it in theaters you should probably hurry because it bombed over the first wide weekend and probably won't be around much longer.

Yeah, I had to drive 45 minutes away to see it. It's not playing at our local theatre.

Just out of curiosity, where did you find it lacking?

I found it disgustingly manipulative. That kind of fluff may work in a novella (I haven't read that one) but as a movie it just seemed to lack any real emotion.

[Show spoiler]This guy is dying and he does a big dance number in the street t totally out of the blue and now we're supposed to feel all uplifted or something? (Obviously oversimplifying the story but still)
