Between the time you bought your X900E until today, I have upgraded my TVs 3 times and projectors 4 times. From X900E to JVC RS3200

Enjoyed 28 Years Later even if the final 5 minutes were a bit jarring. Will definitely get the 4K disc. Funny enough they shot the film on iPhone 15 Pro's. It also has a wide 2.76:1 aspect ratio. The Dolby Cinema presentation was top-tier.

I purchased 4 TVs from 2016 to 2024.

One was a 65" Hisense U8G given as a gift brand new to a friend and another one was my 85" Sony X900F given later to a friend as a "hand me down" gift last summer when I upgraded to my 85" Sony Bravia 9.

The 4th TV is a 60" LG UH8500, which is kinda , but it is a 4K 3D TV and I have kept it all of this time for its passive 3D capability.

I think the only thing Alchav enjoys more than spirited debate is hoarding physical media. Steelbooks, Slipcovers, and limited editions are all thrilling but his main obsession is out of print media. This is why he campaigns in favor of streaming because he wants all physical media out of print while he can still afford to compete his collection.

I was supposed to see 28 Years Later yesterday but had some family stuff come up. Still hoping to catch it in theatres.

Exactly the same boat as me, I’m going to buy it on 4K disc now, can’t wait.

I have innkeepers on Blu-ray, happy enough with that. Hope you enjoy your 4K copy, it’s a good film.

I have the 65" version of this TV and keep it for the same reason: 3D. Mine has a lot of crosstalk in 3D unfortunately. But yes, the picture quality does leave a lot to be desired as well.

Agreed, this and House of the Devil made me an instant Ti West fan. I also have it on Blu-ray but want all the special features offered on the new release.

House of the Devil is the only Ti West film I like. Innkeepers has great production design but gets dragged down for me due to the comedy aspect of it. I also liked 2/3rds of In the Valley of Violence but that film also didn't know what it wanted to be -- a western drama or comedy, which undermines the tone. Great cast, too. I may revisit it again someday.

You usually do get better quality. Most of the time, it looks fine. But sometimes it really doesn't. I watched a few Netflix shows recently and saw bad compression artifacts. Especially when it comes to dark scenes, I see compression artifacts I've never seen on physical media.

I'm not even very good at seeing quality differences, compared to some people. I genuinely have a hard time sometimes seeing the difference between a good 1080p video and a good 4k video.

If you're not able to see those differences, that's great. Enjoy your movies the way you want.

But don't tell people they don't see a difference, I absolutely do. (And yes I have fiber Internet and all that business).

But really for me, the core aspect is ownership. I can do more.

I rip my movies and put them on my Plex server for streaming. All the benefits of streaming, and physical media.

I also mess with editing stuff.

Adding subtitles to videos, I've messed with video upscalers with mixed results. Also trying to see about replacing the theme song on House MD, since they changed it from the original release.

There's tons of talk about all of those.

If anything, there would be less people talking about how great their discs were, if you didn't feel like you had to tell people they were wrong about streaming.

At the end of the day, this is fundamentally a website for physical media. And a lot of people are going to be talking about that.

Even still, there is tons of discussions on movies and shows, even ones that are only streaming.

I guess Mr. Technical Expert obviously doesn't know how to use Google and find the discussion forum he's looking for.

I do enjoy a spirited debate, but hoarding out of print PM is not my passion. I stopped buying PM Decades Ago. My Digital Collection is in the Thousands and mostly in Fandango which use to be Vudu. I haven't lost any Movie or TV Show in over a Decade I've had my Collection like you guys predicted. I still add to my Collection from time to time new and Collectors Movies and TV Shows. I love to play both new and Vintage Moves!

In the thousands? As in 2000+? I find that hard to believe when you previously claimed only having "over 1000 Movies and TV Shows" about 19 months ago:

You more than doubled your collection in that time, did you? I have 1,757 digital titles and every time that I have pointed out to you that my digital collection is larger than yours, you clam the hell up. Methinks that you are prone to exaggeration.

That second sentence is definitely a lie as your collection is NOT 100% 4K with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision. You just posted a week ago that you watched The Wild Bunch from your digital collection and it is only offered in HDX on Fandango and thus it has no Dolby Vision. It also only has Dolby Digital Plus Stereo for audio.

Adding to the irony is the fact that your TV, the Sony 900E, does not support Dolby Vision and your headphones can only simulate Atmos- and simulate by definition is fake. You brag that your entire digital collection has features that you can not even use!

All it takes is a single exception to prove that you lied about all of your digital collection being 4K. Further, very few TV shows are offered in 4K or with Dolby Atmos audio, so there you are caught in yet another lie.

You may not have lost any digital titles yet, but you also have no control over whether or not it happens later. There remains a very good chance that some of your digital titles have been edited to remove objectionable scenes or episodes, again something that you have no control over.
