I'm not sure how you get it to happen, but you can trigger disappearing stones that you can use to get over to that portal. I've read several posts over on the Bungie/Destiny forums going into exquisite detail how to access the (now all 7) chests. Getting the one(s) to which you are referring requires virtually impossible tasks of not dying combined with accessing/not accessing other chests combined with not allowing the Templar to teleport combined with a lot of other stuff. Having only done parts of the raid once, I really had a hard time following everything that needed to be done. Doesn't sound like fun to me....

I actually maxed out my Vanguard marks for the week, already did weekly strike and nightfall so pretty much these days I check the dailies and bounties. Until they start doing some more for PvE I'll be spending more time in Mordor.

The Crucible is actually fun, but if I have to do x number of kills vs dying and such to complete a bounty it's no longer fun. I end up being more frustrated than anything.

I'm up for completing the raid on normal, though.

I'm not giving up on the game yet, especially since I already have the expansion packs.

I would take some of those posts with a large grain of salt. There's a lot of theorycrafting surrounding the chests that hasn't been properly researched.

For example, there is one chest that spawns after the Templar (on the way to the Gorgon's Maze) that is hidden. As far as I can tell, the only requirement is to prevent the Templar from teleporting before defeating him. That's still a tall order, but these wild guesses about not having people die, etc. are just that: wild guesses.

I try to take most posts over there like that. Seems like most who frequent that forum are 12 year-olds, either truly or at least socially. The one topic I read seemed to be supported by others, but you never know.

By cheesing the Templar you can get that chest every time. The key is the relic holder and everyone else stay in that crevice to the left of the cleansing pool (as you look out to the Templar), and have (preferrably) 2 warlocks trigger supers and bomb his shield with solar grenades. With each grenade he floats backwards, ultimately falling to his death. It takes about 5 minutes, a little longer if you only have 1 warlock. Cheese FTW

Hats off to JJ for swinging into my Daily like Batman! Worked out great since I also got kicked out of the game and was able to rejoin where we left off since he was still on. Played it at level 28 too, and I forget sometime what a hassle it is taking out the phalanxes when they have their riot shields up.

I wish I could read those threads at work, as I spend much more time on the internet here than at home. I'd rather be playing a game than reading a forum about it. The real discussions about the secrets of the Vault are pretty interesting. Red and blue lights, Gorgon's gazes and reflections, rules of threes, backtracking with the relic, etc. I'd love to have the time and committed friends that some have to explore the vault myself.

Those are over because once you have the reward there is not point to it. Now you get a chance at a reward so that you come back over and over, this keeps you around long enough to buy some DLC and give them even more money.

The boss gives you a reward each week, 100% chance. The greedy might not be satisfied with a Chatterwhite.

I had been doing patrols and stuff, so I went in there charging like Batman too, died too many times (What, 3?) - I HATE IT, lol. Had the random weapons I was playing in patrol with not my maxed out ones, but we beat it anyway, Yeahhhh for ascendant energies!

Good stuff though.

Ok, thanks for the heads up. It looks like I am at atheon already, but we never did the gate keeper part so.....i don't know how it got that far. Still, if anyone hasn't done it this week or just wants to help out, might as well join in since tomorrow is a new week!
