Do you honestly think Disney would tell movie studios that they can't put movies into a locker because of a rating?

If that was true, NONE of this would work. No one would want to use their technology and would come up with something better.

I don't have to remember your post. It's nonsense.

Steedeel, other studios' movies wouldn't be under the DMA banner. If they're using keychest technology they can create their own apps which integrate to Vudu, iTunes, etc like dma currently does. Think Sony Movies Anywhere. Link it to all your providers so they're everywhere. That's purely conjecture on my part but it would seem to make sense.

Steedeel is just scared that he will no longer have access to his favorite genre films. I'm not sure what purpose it serves to worry about these things, but he enjoys worrying, and he hopes to get others to worry with him.

Let's say, hypothetically, Steedeel is right, and Disney becomes the gatekeeper of Movies Anywhere. Let's say they don't allow movies with certain content to be stored in this new locker system. Even if that happens, those movies would still be available, just not in your locker. So they'd be exactly like they are now on Amazon and iTunes. Not shareable with other providers. Many titles won't be on MA, but that doesn't mean they won't be accessible. My Amazon, iTunes and VUDU collection are all accessible through my streaming devices connected to my TV, as well as apps on my phone/tablet.

I worry about the day disc goes away. It's that simple. And for good reason.

I would hate the idea of having separate lockers for each studio. Movies Anywhere sounds like it'll be all the studios combined. Otherwise, that just sounds the same as it is now. I have a Sony locker (which also happens to be UV), along with others. If each studio had something like DMA, it makes sense to us, but to the average consumer, that would be a real pain and overly complicated.

Also, you UV guys may soon be under the thumb of Disney if rumours are accurate. Good luck with that! Hope you don't all enjoy adult themed films because they sure as heck won't allow anything like that in their digital locker. Like I said a while back, PG and at the very best PG 13. Disney will be worried about their 'image' by allowing horror or violent thrillers be stored in their Keychest solution.
Disney used to release more adult themed movies in the early to mid 00s under the Buena vista label. They released Apocalypto.

Steedeel is the typical Disc Lover, and they see Digital HD taking over and that it can't be stopped. Disc will still be around for a while, but only for the Collectors and the people that don't have the Bandwidth for High Quality Streaming. Like I have said, I see The Future as Digital Streaming but you do need the Bandwidth.

I did pre-order 2 titles digitally for the first time (Baby Driver and Spiderman Homecoming) on FandangoNow due to codes, but was told on here that if you pre-order it before it's UV it will not ever share to your UV locker after release. This was confirmed by Fandangonow support.

It's annoying, but the only reason I would buy a title on there is to save $ and then watch it through VUDU.

Interesting to see what wrinkles this upcoming "Movies Anywhere" launch has as well, so this is one small annoyance to digital.

Ended up cancelling the pre-orders. They did email a 50% off today too so it's tempting

This is why I have all of my favorite movies and television shows on disc. If this transfer of services goes poorly, it is going to piss off a lot of consumers.

Digital is great in some ways... but it certainly has many problems.

The future of Flixster Video being used on UV could be in doubt as I heard today from the BBC that Adobe have announced plans to cut off all support for Adobe Flash Player by the end of the year 2020.

http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-40716304

Flixster Video uses Adobe Flash Player for video playback of it's digital home video locker. I have heard no official response coming from UV through the media about this issue as of yet. It is still going to be a very worrying time for Flixster Video users that are going to be asking questions about the future usage of their digital video collections.

I would think they would just switch their web based player to something else like HTML5 or Silverlight. No reason to shut down a business.

I guess you guys use your Computer and Remote Devices to view your Movies, but your Big Screen UHD TV's should use other Apps. I used Flixster when I first started, now there are many others here in The States you can view UV like Vudu. So we are not worried about Adobe Flash, just get yourself a good UHD TV and you should be fine.

At least I know how to properly navigate Internet Explorer... I can't figure out how to play my Flixster films on my phone. I've downloaded two apps and both are not the video app for Flixster.

A decent number of people actually still use internet explorer and a lot used it in the past unlike flixster. Flixster is more of a heavily advertised product that never caught like the john carter movie.
